There is a lot of real world side plot and other games sideplot. Its definitely not like isekai, its just about games and gamers. If you don't like exposition you won't like it.

I had to re-iterate the problem to them twice before they understood and restored, but they did eventually do it

I had the same error, I opened a ticket with steam support, explained the game was no longer supported and normal restoration options were not available and they restored it for me.

BV itself basically removes the clunk of snapshotting by lasting "forever". Meaning it works off the damage on the first cast and as long as you don't let it drop you never have to use the "snapshot" tech again until you change zones. This is still annoying if you do a lot of in person trading...

Technically all the sacrifice skills/items/supports should work with it the same way right?

The "magic" of the social aspect was that insufferable, socially inept shut ins got at least some level of "social" interaction because people were actually, literally, forced to interact with them.
