I'm a bit hazy on the exact timing but I remember quitting EQ to play City of Heroes for a few months, then the WoW open beta came out and my first run through Deadmines was such an incredible experience that I couldn't imagine playing Everquest again for at least 20 years.

That's great, too bad half my guild (including me) quit the game within a couple months of GoD's release and never had a chance to see much of it because of the broken ass state it was released in.

What happened was they 'completed' the expansion by releasing the other half of it, calling it Omens of War, and charging another 30 bucks for anyone still dumb/masochistic enough to be one of their customers at that point.

How was Gates of Discord not awful? It basically killed the game. I hope Triune continues to add expansions but if you're going to freeze the game at a specific point PoP is not a bad place to do it.

yeah i flew to 50 and the AAs are much faster than guk, although it would have been a slog without the AAs I already had. Probably get to ~200 AAs tomorrow and then take down Vox and Naggy.
