Yeah, I'm not getting the Barb frustration. Pre-patch, I tried to avoid the whole WW/WotB thing, and opted to use abilities like Rend and Furious Charge. But post-patch, I've been experimenting with different builds, including using more Whirlwind - and fury generation hasn't been a problem...
