I saw the first episode. I don't know what I expected, but I liked it. The swarming bug guy at was pretty crazy looking.
I'm surprised they removed the Dean so quickly.

Finally watched it and wow, that ending was awesome. Really showed the power of the moth guy right away.

Got me interested to watch more, really hoping this will be a bit on the dark side, which it seems to be leaning towards. The Moth Guy was a real attention grabbing character.

The show is on SyFy Now now, well the first episode at any rate. It really needs the second episode to complete the intro.

I think the official start is this week and they are showing the 1st and 2nd episode back to back.

Doesnt follow the books to a T but so far its a pretty decent show, changing Penny into a total ass kicker was a good move though.

Yeah, people make that argument about books made into movies, but you can't expect to see exactly the book on film. Just can't happen. Look for a happy adaptation. About to watch episode two. Hope they keep up the good work.

Second episode dipped in quality imo. It was a little all over the place.
Yeah I thought the Quentin (sp?) storyline was all over the place a bit - especially since all of the drama was about something that's obviously not going to happen. Essentially it was just the aftermath of the ending of the first episode.

The chick's storyline was a bit more interesting, but maybe that's because I'm just interested to see where it goes, since it wasn't in the book.

I like the atmosphere of the Brakebill's setting, they've nailed the "modern Hogwarts for grad students" type atmosphere pretty well imo.

I think some of the "rush" was the fact they wanted to make it clear they weren't just "Harry Potter...but edgier!". It seemed like they went out of their way to try to shatter some tropes associated with the Potter book series (no destiny, you aren't a special chosen one with ultimate power, etc).

Her storyline is from the second book...It is just mostly told in flashback to Quentin later. The show is doing it in "real time" in parallel with the first book.

seems interesting.

magic school that demands secrecy, erases knowledge of magic... expects you to know magic to get in, seems really silly.
then this is coupled with, just yelling at a person, lets them do magic, they don't know they can do..

The point of the test was that the principal cast a "revealing" spell to draw out his latent talents.it was halfheartedly explained in one throwaway line in the show, a bit deeper in the books.

I don't know if it was a good move or not, but it's distracting as hell to me=P Everyone else I'm OK with, but he's just such a departure from the book version. Not sure how this version will work when they get to his parts from books 2 and 3.
Him being this crazy powerful force but still being a total aspie dork deep down was pretty good stuff

Like it so far.

Getting worse as it goes I think. If it wasn't for the hot chicks (and the thing with the books) then I would have stopped watching.
