This is such a great list. Brings back memories.
What's sad is, they appreciate the old movies more than they do the new ones. They look at Indiana Jones or ET with such wonder, regardless of how old they are. They eat up Ghostbusters or Back to the Future.

Has pretty much every movie in the last 20 years sucked, or what? The new movies don't get a reaction from them at all.

The problem with musicals is that the music is supposed to be good.

I even generally like Elfman, but he flubbed that one.

Even Stravinsky had his Firebird.
I should punch you in your whore mouth. I collaborated with Elfman on the score for that film. I think it's a really strong score, and he did fine singing it himself. It's a favourite here in our house, the kids love the songs. And I think there's a Kurt Weill quality to it. Quite fun.

And Firebird isn't so bad. It's no Petrushka, but I'd prefer to hear Firebird live to nearly anything by, say, Haydn.
