I doubt anyone under thirty five has even seen fight club.

Chew on that.

Basically every comic book movie ever is over rated. I think vin diesel movies might be under. Not on this board, but in general. Riddick is just the highest quality crap movie since I don't know when. And it is crap. It's so fucking dumb, but so pure and good. Oh God, that part with the dog. Lol. The man is a fucking artist.

It's got to be dated. I am Jack's late 90s aesthetic.

Maybe they have seen it. I dunno. But going and seeing it in the theater was mindfuckery.

Hmm, I think your window is prolly a few years off. I'm 33 and I'm well aware of it. I saw it in theaters and rented it from a Blockbuster. The Matrix is older than Fight Club.

Yeah, I think your target age is like currently 26 or 27. My girlfriend is 27 and I'm pretty sure she never heard of it before I brought it up months ago. Then again she hasn't seen much of anything at all. Sooooo this is very anecdotal.

Yeah I'm only 30 and I saw it when I was in high school. I'd push the age down a few years to mid 20's.

Love that Collateral has gotten two mentions for underrated. 13th Warrior is also a good choice (and probably a bit more apt since Collateral did get two acting Oscar noms with Foxx winning it). The thing I really liked about 13th Warrior was it was shaping up to be some kind of fantasy story but it was totally grounded in reality.

Overrated: comic book films. I watch all of them but come away feeling underwhelmed by most of them (liked IM1, Thor1, and Ant-Man enough to rewatch them at some point though). Also, Fast and the Furious films. Again, watch all of them, wonder why I did after doing so. At least I wait for torrents.

Sneakers reminded me of Burn After Reading, which is not exactly underrated but not many have seen it.

I shall be checking out this Stardust of which you speak.

I know a teenager whose favorite film is Fight Club. Suck on that, nerds.

So overrated, I had to look it up and still not sure I know which movie you're referring to.

I like Fight Club, I'm sure for many people on this board, it debuted when many of us were older teens, so it gets some nostalgia bonus. But I can also agree that it's overrated. It's an extremely quotable movie with almost no substance once you look past the very thin veneer. Soundtrack helped too.

Fight Club has no substance? Wtf?

To be fair, most major movies have little substance too. Rare is the "thinker" movie. The problem with Fight Club is that kinda plays at making you think it has some meaningful message or commentary when it mostly doesn't. It's mostly unique in style, presentation, soundtrack, and quotability, which by themselves make for a still quite good movie. But an overrated one nonetheless.

Fight club was a rejection of the materialistic culture of the 1980's, similar to grunge music and a lot of other shit from the 90's. It's an absolute waste of time to debate whether it has "substance" but if you think it was just a mindless action movie you weren't paying attention.

Howard's End. All those cheesy faux British movies from the 90s. Totally overrated.

I think all of Bobcat's directorial movies are underrated. World's Greatest Dad is one of Robin's best.

Scarface is overrated
A Serious Man is underrated amongst the Coen catalog. It's my favorite Coen Bros movie.

Overrated: Bridesmaids, Avatar, and any Harry Potter movie- None of these will age well

Underrated: Boy and his Dog (foundation of the entire Fallout Franchise and post apocolyptia in general), Hamburger Hill (if not for R. Lee Ermy, this would be the definitive Viet Nam movie), and Immortal Beloved (Oldman in his early prime, better than Amadeus)
