Well the previews sure look intriguing. As stated, that particular one was disturbing. I like stories that revolve around the perception of existence. I hope the story is fluid enough without feeling discombobulated.

Anthony Hopkins has to be one of the most unique actors in Hollywood. Nobody, and I mean nobody, can play a Hopkins type character, except Hopkins.

It doesn't matter if he's playing a deranged serial killer, or the king of Asgard, he's got this quality where he comes off as slightly insane, but you still respect him. I can't explain it. Almost like a version of Christopher Walken that you can relate to.

Television really is taking the wind out of movies.

I can't remember a single recent movie that has been good as some of the series that we're now seeing on television. It's just a much better medium; the studios get far more bang for their buck as they can get a lot more footage per set or take. The audience gets more characters development and exposition.

A studio can build a set and only get maybe 15 seconds of footage out of it for a film. That same studio can build a set for a television series and get content for the entire run of the series. Think of the Red Keep on Game of Thrones, or Winterfell. Six years later and they're still using shit they built in S1.

This show and American Gods are what I am really looking forward to coming up. That being said I think that Ian McShane is a little similar to Anthony Hopkins in that regard. All of his characters you can see a slight touch of psychosis.

I feel that Ian is the more vulgar and unrefined Anthony. Like they were twins separated at birth, one to a rich family and one to a family that had nothing.

Now THAT could be a good movie or show with them being the actors.

Funny how perceptions change depending on when you first saw the actor. To me McShane is and always will be Lovejoy, the loveable rogue antiques dealer. The first time hearing him say 'cocksucker' in Deadwood had me reaching for the smelling salts.

Brink was great and HBO sucked for cancelling it. They can make it up to me this Sunday though. Hope this is great.
