Pretty sure nobody was actually trying to diagnose the majority of millennials as have a disorder by posting a thread on a message forum... so, stop taking things so literally like some annoying aspie.

And yes, the 20 somethings are defined by being able to post political or SJW rants on their Facebooks and texting hella fast with a ton of different people at once, and then not knowing how to shake a hand, look someone in the eye, or generally interact with anyone who isn't just standing near them also staring at their phone like they're on a secret mission and trying to ensure nobody thinks they know the person.

I'm 27 and there's a definite shift just a few years below me - I think the difference is that my age bracket was the last to remember a time when the internet wasn't ubiquitous and go through highschool/teenage years when social media was just taking off and phones were just for calling/texting (and not something every kid was expected to have).

Hell I still don't use a smart phone, because I don't really want to be more immersed in the internet than I already am, while it seems anyone just a few years younger than me (and of course a lot my age or older, but nowhere near as many) have accounts on half a dozen different social media websites which they monitor more or less constantly.

It's a very different way of interacting with the world, and with other people.

Despite how much grumble about the kids' hipster friends fact is you can't generalize the entire generation. There are about 300,000 Millenial kids who are serving in the military right now and they defy every sadsack millenial bullet point out there.

That said, yeah, the majority show the highest cases of clinical narcissism, are the LEAST-prepared for the global information economy and are pretty much exactly as racist as every previous generation despite constant protestations otherwise.

I started handing out candy on Halloween at my uncle's house because he's too old and every year the kids continue to seem fine. It's mostly just teens that suck and teens have always sucked forever. You sucked as a teen, I sucked as a teen, everyone sucks as a teen.

Yeah but when WE sucked at teens we didn't have a means to retreat to a place where there were millions of other teens who sucked IN EXACTLY THE SAME WAY to validate all the crazy shit we thought about the world.

Now when someone makes fun of a brown kid's clock "invention" in school he doesn't have to feel alone, he can just log on and retreat to the hundreds of thousands of brothers who will tell him all those people just hate Islam. When in reality, it was just a shitty clock.

Honestly I think in general people are less autistic/awkward then they were. I hang around a couple of the nerd stores near me. (Magic or WH40k, DnD etc etc) and the rate of those super smelly fat guys is WAY WAY down compared to when i was a teenager (29 now). I will say they seem more sheltered then back in the day though.

I'm mostly talking about girls under 24. Girls 16-24 typically had very strong social skills, even if they were always annoying as fuck, and not having strong social skills in that age range would make you abnormal.

Now, even popular girls in that age range have incredibly awkward social behaviors, to a degree that would have been severely abnormal a mere 10 years ago It's like they've closed the awkwardness gap with boys.

On the flip side, I've noticed boys in the 20-25 age group have significantly worse problem solving skills than one would expect.

What the fuck are you rambling about? How do you figure that as a 30-something who has never had an close relationship with anybody other than your mother that you are in a position to assess anybody else's social skills or lack thereof?

That's kinda what I'm saying.

I was considered weird at that age.

Now I'd be normal.

That's fucked up.

Well not now at 35, living with my mom and being miserable all the time. That's not normal.

But at, say, 22, just being awkward as fuck, that would be normal now.

Actually the most abnormal thing about that is that you refuse to do anything about it.

You know it's unhealthy; you know what you need to do; you have the means to do it.... but you won't. That's the only really abnormal thing about it.

You think anyone living with soul-sucking parents at 35 are happy or something?

Agreed my brother has his own place, pays his own bills, and is just a very happy dude just living by himself playing video games all day.

I actually envy how easily he is satisfied in life.

I will say it was massive problem finding young men that could perform as an attachment during military deployments, basically you join a unit where you don't know anyone (But they all know each other because they deploy as an entire unit) and have to slowly work your way in over the duration of your deployment.

It was routine for me to send a young guy to his team and then shortly after have him sent back with just a simple "Specialist Soandso is a faggot we don't like him" and he would be considered a failure despite technically doing nothing wrong.

Really sucked, I sometimes had to utilize guys that I suspected wouldn't work out because the pool of people who could just join a team of strangers, socialize with other adult men, and integrate within a small window of time was very small.

I'm only 27 yet the difference in social skills between myself and the average 18-25 year old males I met were staggering.

It legitimately became the number one quality I was looking for in assigning soldiers to missions/duties.
