MMO's should have servers with different difficulty levels.

Early Rift was awesome, then it became a dumbed down piece of shit. GW2 was as well. I remember playing GW2 in an early beta and it was hard as hell. Just fighting 1 mob was life and death, had to cast a spell then dive out the way and cast again. Repeat while diving and only the stronger classes/characters could win like that, everyone else had to then kite it a bit to finish it off. It was edge of the seat fighting and it made everything seem more meaningful. Exploring every inch of the zone to find those little skill points and shit wasn't just something to do, it was something you desperately wanted to do because you needed every little boost you could get. And every skill and spell mattered, you had to use the right thing at the right moment.

Then a later stage of beta they changed it to be a LOT easier. And then they changed it a second time. I cancelled my order after that but it went free recently and I tried it again to see if it was as bad as I remembered, and it was even worse. I just ran around herding groups of mobs onto me and then splatting them all in 2 seconds. Fuck modern gamers.

Anyway if these games had just 1 server with a different ruleset, I would play them.

p.s. I loved the way the classes worked in Rift, really A+++. But the combat just got easier and easier as they dumbed it down, and also as mudflation kicked in. When it went free I gave it a try again and there was a new expansion so I had to grind through 10 more levels. I found a group of same level mobs and cast my 1234 routine on them. The mob died before it even reached me... So I took 0 damage, it didn't even attack me. I repeated that 50 times then uninstalled. Stuff like that is insultingly dumb. I suppose in this Skyrim world, that's what makes money. But at least if they had multiple servers like single player games have difficulty options, it could suit more people.

I don't know man, I think hate is pretty appropriate considering the state MMOs are in.

Early Rift was already a dumb down piece of shit. People maxed out so fast even then and were raiding before head start was done.

I think for most of us it's more of a love/hate relationship. Sometimes we feel neglected and sometimes we break up and cheat with another MMO, but then we break down and get back together.

Well casual action tard MMO players are not neglected. They get a few new MMO's each year. Hardcore gamers do get neglected though and that's the point of this thread. There is EQ and UO and that's about it, and both of those only really exist on emu.

Hello good sir. Do you have a minute to talk about our Lord and Saviour Brad McQuaid?
He may be Brad McLulz around here but Pantheon is the only upcoming MMO I would even care to read about. There was one other but I forgot its name and it isn't as promising.

Do I like the idea of being able to play on a harder difficulty, sure. Do I think its worth the cost for a genre that already pushes expenses so hard that they arnt being made anymore? No.

Oh ffs, companies trying to cash in on the MMO trend have a hard enough time properly balancing one difficulty. You ask for multiple difficulties and what you'll get is less content that you play through on normal and nightmare to unlock hell difficulty which is what the game is actually designed and balanced for.

Entire servers with different difficulties? Sure, that could happen. Locking characters to a single difficulty and not letting players switch as often as they like? Not gonna fly.

Qwerty strikes me as the type of neckbeard who complains about easy MMOs and that none have a sense of community and then proceeds to 5-box an entire group and ignores anyone

It's easier to let the community make custom servers than try and make custom servers like Daybreak where you hope it appeases the masses.
