Loot situation POP quit dicking us around

I think it"s about time this problem is addressed. First of all, the loot tables for boss mobs in the Elemental planes are abymsally small (actually for the entire expansion). We"re talking 1-3 unique items per boss - MAX. Compare this with any average VT boss, for example, who average out 10 unique items per boss and you can see a problem.

You have to then factor in that the PITA to get to these bosses and to kill them is much, much greater than VT"s PITA (which is quite frankly saying a lot about the PITA itself) and you see the problem growing.

Now, it"s blatantly obvious little to no thought was given in itemizing most if not all of these mobs. The NTOV syndrome is happening again with elemental armor already ("*Groan* "Silk Elemental Boot pattern on this...." grats rot). The elemental molds are taking up loot slots to boot. I strongly disagree with this philosophy. The way I see elemental armor at this point is that we"ll definitely need to be in it to progress past the Tier 4 Overlords. The only way to get them is on 3-7 day timer bosses who can RANDOMLY drop one freaking piece. Coincidentally, they beat more ass than anything previously seen in game.

So four months down the line when every caster in your guild has 2 silk bracers and a set of silk boots while the melee are still fumbling all over themselves in their absolute shit gear, you"re gonna hear it - luckily you have me to tell you what to do right now.

Let me briefly summarize so far: Our "bread and butter" loot drops only in the elemental planes, zones of massive PITA. The items actually only drop off bosses, and the most difficult of the bosses at that, and almost always one item per boss (which is generally a mold) thus negating an actual loot drop. Now imagine if in NTOV, for example, the armor pieces only dropped off of one of the 13 or so dragons, took up a loot spot in the dragon"s loot pool, and the dragon only dropped ONE item. That would be horrible, even for NTOV.

The solution is pretty simple. Design REAL loot for boss mobs. Add mini-bosses that are campable spawns in each zone that drop molds 1-3 at a time. For example, in the Field of Gib in PoFire you could have a Flame Lord Berserker be a rare spawn which has the chance to drop a mold. It would be a normal rare mob with a PH, etc.. the ones we"ve all grown to love. Each zone should have an ASSLOAD of these mini"s so that one zone doesn"t monopolize player traffic (which is happening right now because PoWater and PoEarth are huge festering shitpiles).

The way I see it, this needs to be looked at now, not three months from now when everyone is pissed off and disillusioned.

One last note and I pray I see this fixed ASAP. YOU SHOULD NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER SEE A SPECTRAL PARCHMENT DROP IN AN ELEMENTAL PLANE. Especially not off a boss mob that has 500k hps and Quad <b>AE</b> Rampages for 2950 a pop with a .5 second delay. That is COMPLETE HORSESHIT. Rune drops were upped in some retarded tier 3 zones to appease the cattle. Wait until your cattle reach the Tier 4 zones and see nothing but end game boss ring encounters net Runes.

And FT and Vengeance for everyone. Let the choirlights shine, the anegsl hark or some fucking thing, and the loot rolls in. Yep, pain in the ass to get the keys, and kill the mobs, but damn, what a reward."

Then out comes PoP. I"ve seen the gear. Looks spiff. No neat new graphics, no particles. Fuck, not even FT or Vengeance or anything like that on half of it. And you have to run the gauntlet of getting quadded for 2950 a WHACK just to get it? Why the fuck even bother? And if that"s the melee, what the fuck is the AE like!?

Even though im not able to reach elemental plains but me and my guild are almost there we took down MM Bertoxx and Agnarr..we"re getting there and from what i"ve seen so far I expect NOT to see a damn spectral drop off any boss mob in the Elemental PLains. No way

I think SOV did a good job on the armor drops. Random drops off yard trash in Kael/TOV (or POG) most of which was doable by one group. While POP armor is obviously better then SOV armor, it is no better then SOV armor was when it first started dropping (i.e. given the differing points of time in game the upgrades are roughly the same in effect). So why make it so much more difficult to aquire now the it was in SOV, such as putting them on a miniboss? To me putting ornate molds on random mobs in tier 2/3 zones and elemental molds on random mobs in the tier 4 zones makes for a better solution.

you are a smart guy, Star Wars comes out April 15, 03. So VI needs to crank out another EQ expansion before then to maximize profits. I am guessing March 30th. Attempting to meet that deadline means no PoP changes.

Why they bother is cause they want to be first.

As for loot... yes. Too little is dropping for the crews of at least 50+ that you"ll need for this stuff.

Remember Velious kings? They each had 6 drops per kill. All of them all had their BEST loot drop EACH time too. (Heads for quests, definately best part of all of their loot tables.) Sure, most of the stuff is crap by now, but back THEN it was awesome. Even Tunare has 4 drops + 2 BP"s.

I can understand 6 not dropping off of EVERY boss though. NToV for example, you already get 2-3 pieces from every dragon. Which is alot of loot, and little time is spent getting to the next dragon too.

Not to mention that NToV never had any time sinks to zone in!

NToV was very well designed at the time though, you do have to admit. Although maybe it should have been a little harder, with a LITTLE bit better loot so it could last through more expansions.

I would argue that it weren"t for him (and those like him), the game wouldn"t have gotten considerably more trivial every patch day for the last three years. Furors stance on every topic can be sumed up like this. The rewards for me are far too little, the rewards for everyone else are far too great. He does only what is in his best interest, I wouldn"t thank him too much.

It isn"t easy staying on top for as long as I have. Degenerates like you should be kissing my brown lovehole for all of the contributions I have made to the wonderous world of EQ.

When your gimp ass reaches an elemental plane in 6-9 months, the lewt will flow and I"ll have another comparison to make come next expansion.

These gods and higher tier bosses should be dropping that loot that makes you go "ooh" and "ahh". Loot that you actually look forward to getting. Loot that makes all the time and effort worthwhile.

For example, I don"t think it would be too much to ask for Mithaniel Marr to drop a 55/27 pally only 2hander with 200 hps and a killer proc like a paladin group heal...or shit, lay hands. (He is the big daddy pally)

Or Rallos Zek drop a breastplate with 250+ hps, killer +sta and um, since Rallos Zek is the top warrior, how bout an innate aggro buff on BP as well? Maybe an awesome dmg mitigation innate?

Anyway, any EQ player can shit up dream loot all day.. The point of this to actually put some thought into the loot tables. Make 1 or 2 USEFUL items that are in line with the risk vs. reward and some other marginal loot that is still worth equipping. Make the loot tables in line with traits from the boss you are fighting. I.e. the godly pally sword from Mith and the godly BP from Rallos.

Bring some pride back to the bosses that hold our servers namesakes.

How boring.

You figure after the first 3 expansions they could of gathered the necessary experience to populate loot tables in a way that makes it worthwhile and fair.

I think the dev team purposely fucks up or puts off the loot tables until after the uber guilds beta test their encounters for them. After a few months, a shitload of free beta testing and a gazillion threads on shitty loot, they will populate them.

Loot is such an integral part of the game and it would be nice if they actually took some care in placing it in the game.
