Got Celes SSB and Vivu BSB so couldn't be happier. 8* Fire Armlet is going to be awesome. Celes is another boss cheese in the toolkit.

3rd Guardian Rod (That's now 8* augmented) and Y'da's SSB Glove. My FF9 synergy is through the roof now, but having a FF14 synergy weapon is definitely welcome regardless of how good it is.

Edit: Don't know about you guys but I've noticed my gil reserve is actually dipping low. The Orb Fest should help on that, but quite surprising considering I've haven't had to think about it in ages.

I've had no gil for the entire game. Gil fortune means you are probably not honing maxed out abilities.

Still waiting to 8* a fair few things, including my best healer weapon.

Actually thanks for mentioning this. I've been meaning to ask what you spend your gil on because you are always out, while gil hasn't been an issue for me since my first month playing the game. When you say honing maxed out abilities are you talking about honing 5 and 6* abilities or is there something I've completely missed out on? Just looked into honing a r5 curaja and don't see a means to.

I'm just under 40 million Gil from a high around 70 million. Reforging gear is VERY expensive. I have six 8 star items and a couple 6 stars reformed to 7 stars.

As far as hones go, 5 star abilities the sweet spot is rank 3. The only two abilities I have at rank 4 are Chain Firaga and Saint's Cross. I really need to get Chain Blizzaga to rank 3 ASAP though. I made a conscious decision to take Chain Firaga to rank 4 and forego Blizzaga for the time being. I'm really looking forward to Orbfest to get caught up on some hones.

I mean honing abilities to rank 5, it costs a stupid amount. I have quite a lot of completed abilities including 4* breakdowns, -ajas, lifesiphons and dismissals. I have a few 5* rank 4 too. Maybe it'd be smarter to stay at rank 4 but I tanked up the Seifer fight this week and actually ran out of hones so no regrets.

Then there us my auto combine policy which means I have quite a few 6* and 7* weapons/armours. This is also costly, especially the 2.5 million for 8*.

i also went 4/11 on the Lucky Draw... two dupes (Steiner's Excalibur and Terra's Tiara SSBs), one so-so (Freya SSB, i already have her other SSB and prefer that one), but...

CELES' EXCALIBUR. i've been trying to pull for a Celes relic since her first event (with the Flans haha, member? =p). have spent hundreds and hundreds of mythril in the last year and a half on just her. and i only just now get a relic for her from a Lucky Draw.

could have gone 1/11 and gotten just that and been just as stoked. super happy.

----------------

i'm always out of gil too. wasn't always that way, but high level item combining and ability honing gets pretty costly. i also tend to do a lot of orb conversion.

Yea I think you guys are right, reforge is hitting the bank hard. I've got a pretty good collection of R4 4* and 5* abilities, I guess I just never noticed all the orb conversions and honing cost compared to reforge which just massively dipped it in one go.

Hah stupid ass Flans and the amount of resets needed just to farm that EXP. Truly the darkest times.

Haha I remember the flan farming event, good times. Would be interesting to have survival events again.

For the newbies, there used to be 3 event types: Collection, Survival and whatever we have now. Collection was basically Greens and shop for the event. Survival had randomised bosses and trash order.

3/11 on lucky draw, luckiest yet! Seem to be a lot of success stories on this one, which is odd. Rates go up or something?

Cyan SSB (seems like whatever), Zidane BSB (seems pretty good), and Hope BSB which I am really pumped about because it's my first magic BSB!

New raids are up, and it's not too bad if someone in the party has a medica.

The raids are kind of simple, and laggy, but damn I sure do enjoy them. Best feature they've added since I've been playing imo.

I love the raids, but as you said they're on the easy side for now. Just wait until the FFXII Mandragora raid.... I'm having nightmares thinking about Pubbing it.

For whatever reason I have just a ton of VI stuff, no other game comes even close. Celes has basically carried me ever since I got her BSB, it just seems way better than the others I have, like lightning, squall, jecht, etc.

Well, my 100 gem pull just gave me Celes Excalibur. She's so ridiculous. That ability alone made the VIII U++ Sorceress Gauntlet an absolute joke. Just wanted to share. Celes, she's so hot right now.

Celes is great. I only have her Excalibur but that one relic simply breaks some fights. The only complaint I have against her is the lack of Lifesiphon but that might be too broken for her.

No problem with that, you need to dive White Mage 4 on Celes and Quistis for Cid Missions. Waifu is a bonus.

Okay so I am just getting back into this after just coasting the past 6 months or so... like only logging in to collect mithril, maybe powering through an event until the two boss fight, etc.

What kind of new skills should I be honing? I have an R2 Full Break, R2 Saint's Cross, but that's really it... no Lifesiphon, no thief/ninja/dancer abilities. Those starter guides were good for starting out, is there anything else for the mid/high level range of skills you should be getting and honing?

Lifesiphon's are for sure a good craft. Other than that, it really depends on the kind of relics you have. Do you have the popular things like Platinum Sword, Onion Gauntlets, Sentinel's Grimoire or Thyrus Staff? What kind of medica's, if any, do you have?

As a general tip, you want a team something like Healer, Support, Dps, Dps, dps/support hybrid. Some of the staples you should work towards are:

Shellga/Protectga rank 2
Curaja Rank 4-5
Fullbreak rank 2-3
Power/Magic Breakdown rank 3-4
Lifesiphon rank 3-4 (maybe 2 copies)

Yeah above are the basic abilities you need. Everything else depends on which BSBs you pull.

For DPS I have Saint Cross because I have Cecil's BSB. I have Thief's Raid & Mug Bloodlust because I have Faris' BSB. I'm considering honing a Dragoon ability now because I recently got Luneth's BSB.

You still want to be saving Mithril for Haste/Wall Relics, should be Christmas banners up with them on in two weeks. Then there's the FF14 god banner around New Year which has literally everything on it.
