Keep expectations on a sophisticated, mind blowing plot out of the equation. This is about action, action and more fuckin action. Action with little to no CGI or wire-fu. Pure action done that has been described as a "ballet" in motion. If you've seen the first one and go in with my previous comments in mind, you will not be disappointed.

This movie is fuckin awesome.

I just watched the first John Wick, on the recommendation of a friend. He said it was amazing.

I did not get it. It was like watching a speed run of a first person shooter.

I get the graphic novel angle (I did like how they put the subtitles for what the Russians were saying right on the screen -- pretty damn clever and fresh) but Sin City had serious plot and character development. And for badass action, Jason Bourne had.... a plot and suspense. After a half hour, I realized all John Wick was about was a very slick film about an unstoppable assassin killing anything that got in his way. There were no twists, no plot at all.

I guess I just do not get a story without a plot. Are those a thing these days?

With all do respect, shut your fat mouth.

If you don't get it, don't tell people. It makes you look really stupid.

10/10 Best movie of the year. = to part 1 imo

I think you're using words you don't know the meaning of. Sin City was pastiche and cliches cranked to eleven. Jason Bourne had shitty camera work that negated any visual punch of the action.

I fucking loved this movie as well. The action was great, exactly what I would have expected.I agree the music wasn't as good this time around. However I didn't really notice it with the exception of 1 scene.

The story arcs I see are 1. Continental 2. High Council 3. Fishburne's character calling in the 'you owe me one'. I don't think it took anything away from the movie however.

really enjoyed this movie, but I think the first is superior. There is a lot of great action in this movie but I felt like it spent a lot of energy on lore and world building, which I have no doubt will pay off incredibly in Chapter 3. Overall, I'd give the first a 9+/10 and this one an 8. I thoroughly enjoy the world this series is set in and I think Keanu, hell just about everyone they have cast, is perfect in their role.

Agreed. They laid some serious foundation for a third movie. Yet, I think they had to. The only other option was to have John Wick have some other reason (car, house, dog again) to go on a bloody, revenge-fueled rampage. Along the way, we only get tidbits of world building, like the first one. Might have been interesting, but I think it would have been too slow for audiences.

They had to up the ante, and I suppose they will have to once again for the third film.

I think you said it well. I don't mean to cast a negative light on this movie, its just different from the first. If anything, I am incredibly excited for what's next in this series.

Just got back from the theater a few minuets ago and the movie kicked ass for what it was. The scene where the motorcyclist crashes into the side of John's car was an unexpected comedic moment for me. The gun-fu was aesthetically pleasing to watch as John pumped countless bullets into brains while breaking arms in between knife fights.

I hope the next chapter is just a tad more lore focused, seeing a younger John growing into the role of an assassin would be cool.

Sadre,

This movie was just mindless, cool kill scenes. Considering there aren't enough movies like this anymore, I'll support it in every way. Judge Dredd was also light on plot but damn that movie was awesome as well. Do we really need more Avengers, Manchester by the Sea, and Ghostbusters movies right now? I love Avengers but we have a slate chock full of superheroes, love stories, and virtue signaling. I need some action to wash some of that shit down(or away really).

Maybe him driving a bigwheel loaded with explosive into a group of Mexocan cartel members while Beastie Boys "Sabotage" plays in the background. At last second him triggers an eject button on the Big Wheel that lands in someone's backyard sandbox. "Thanks for the sand," he says, then fade to black, "25 years later"

Only two complaints (and they are so minor it feels petty mentioning):

1) music was better in the first
2) overuse of the bulletproof suit mechanic.

Otherwise I thought it was awesome.

I just found out that there no release date for Australia yet.

Not even a vague one, just that it might be a few more months. Basically they have said it won't be a direct to disc movie. So there are some plans to get it into cinemas when it suits.

What the hell!

If you like this, check out Street Kings. Its Keanu playing a similar role, except with a badge and his vice fueling him.

Street Kings was arguably a better indication of how Keanu would absolutely kill this role, more so than say, the Matricks.

Highly underrated corrupt cop movie. Forest Whitaker wasn't sleep-walking through his role back then just collecting checks, as he seems content to do now.

Sounds really minor. I agree with Sadre on probably one thing. This series had a hard sell date. I'm thinking three is as far as they should push this and then move on.

What I think they are doing with the bulletproof suit is stretching our limits of believe-ability. You're already on board with fifty year old assassin murdering Russian gangsters. Then you're on board with a secret group of assassins with some intense amounts of power. Then they introduce the bulletproof suit.

It's like a kid stepping into a cold pool. He's doing it slowly instead of jumping in all at once. That's what the creators of this franchise might be doing for the majority audience. Easing them into the fantasy.

Just got back from seeing this earlier. Great movie but like others, I agree the music wasn't as good as the first one. Additionally, I feel like they didn't have enough jokes/puns like the first one - there were a few in the first half hour of the movie, but by the end it was just serious and dark. Minor complaint, but that levity sometimes is a good release after a super action-y scene.

This video (which contains spoilers, so beware) does a pretty good job of explaining why this one included what it did, and what to expect in the future.

Movie was fun as shit to watch. I'm not going to just copy all the praise that's already been said, so my main complaints were 1.) How many goddamn assassins are active in this fucking world, what the fuck? 2.) $7 million? That's it? Seems like chump change compared to these magic murder coins. Should've been another three zeros tacked on to the end of that contract. Reminded me of Dr. Evil's one MILLION dollars bit, except it wasn't a joke here.

I'm still gonna roll me eyes, even though I get what some of you have said. But for spellbinding action, I would re-watch the Kill Bill series. Uma > Keanu!
