Its kinda like the ship to ship combat portion of Assassins Creed black flag but in space. It is really decent, if you can get over the fact that you can't move out of a 2 dimensional plane in a space game.

If that sounds like it'll piss you off, then skip it.

Rebel Galaxy was fun, but it was clearly designed for a console and the grinding in it gets really tedious by the halfway mark of the game.

I'm gonna have to call this BS, because almost every month has 2-3 indy games from my wishlist that haven't dropped below $5-8 on their cheapest days. There have been a FEW duds from month to month. One of the reasons I started regularly subscribing though was the duplicates or titles I didn't want I would sell to people and end up covering the cost of the bundle anyway, give or take a couple bucks.

If you ONLY like flashy AAA games, then bundles aren't for you at all. If you have varied tastes though, Monthly Bundle has been knocking it out of the park for a while now.

Also, while I was initially annoyed at the Hollow Knight demo thing, it's actually a 9th item so it didn't take up a normal slot and it moved the game from my wishlist to a full preoder and now I can't wait for it to come out.
This is why I was never interested in humble bundles. Sounds like a deal until someone raves about a game and provides a name. Then I go look it up and think "nope"

XCOM 2, Mad Max, Total War: Warhammer, Rocket League, Dragon's Dogma, Grim Dawn, Stardew Valley, Soma... those were featured games in the monthly. None appeal?

Their regular bundles aren't as good as their monthly bundle, imo. Their regular bundles are usually more focused in some way, by genre or publisher.

XCOM 2 is fucking fantastic and I already own it. Warhammer doesn't play nice on my comp for some reason. I got mad max on sale, but never really got into it. No idea why. Same thing with Grim Dawn.

Yea, those games appeal. I guess I'm just tired of buying games that I'll never play. I have no idea why so many games don't hold my interest like they use to. I've been wanting to try stardew valley though.

I enjoyed it a lot, but it does get a little "samey" at times. I have a spare key from the humble monthly so send me a PM if you haven't bought it and are still interested.

Having way too many games to play is certainly a good reason to not be quite as enthused about the monthly bundles. I only subscribe/buy it occasionally and I have loads of games from there I haven't even redeemed yet.

Haha, it's really not because I have too many games. I just know that I would have played the shit out of Mad Max 10 years ago, and I don't know why I'm not really interested now. I still like games, I still like those kinds of games. It looks great and plays well. It's not like I don't have any time to play. Dunno, it's lame.

That's interesting as I'm kind of the opposite. I've largely decided to let my game purchases come from bundles instead of buying individual games (plus I run less risk of duplicate games). I feel like I get more value from my money and since I always have a backlog of games, there's something to play. Plus, I don't feel as bad when I don't get to a game because, on a per game basis, it's way less than an individual purchase. With trading cards, you can often recoup 10-20% of the cost of a bundle. Of course, there's turds along the way, but with bundles I don't feel as bad about them as I would if I bought an individual game that turned out to be a turd. Distributed risk. I've only bought two games at release in the past five years, so I'm not really the type that needs a certain game immediately. But bundles really aren't for first day types.

It also makes me try games I may not have purchased individually. Playing Project Highrise right now and it's a pretty well made management/simulation game. Its lowest historical price is $12 but I got it with the Humble Monthly that has XCOM 2, so that's a huge bargain. I never would have bought it individually without playing it but it's worth $12 after having played it. It may not be super deep but I think I'll get at least 15-20 hours out of it.

Has anyone played the Risen games? I've been interested in Risen 2 due to the pirate theme. It's only 25% off ATM so probably not going to get it but the whole bundle of 1-3 is 25% off. So I was wondering if any of them are worthwhile.

Oh, I personally love the bundles, but I can understand why someone, not Bandwagon's situation as it turns out, wouldn't want to buy them if they end up barely playing any of them (I've seen the notion elsewhere).

I end up having tons of games I haven't even tried yet, due to me most of the time just playing Caves of Qud, Pinball, Hearthstone or stuff like that when I have the time. I'm perfectly fine with it though since I know I always have something new to dive into if I get bored.

I could not get Risen 2 to run on Windows 8 back when I got it in a bundle. Tried it a few months ago on Windows 10 and still no luck. All sorts of issues with it according to the forums, with dozens of different methods to get it to play - I tried a few and gave up.

I've had the first risen for like 5 years and I could never get it to run even once.

It isn't a bad game. Clunky but fun when it came out.

But yeah the Risen franchise is made by the same people that made the Gothic games, and so if you have experience with those games you know the first two were buggy, quirky, fun games, but then Gothic 3 was a disaster that basically killed that company.

Risen follows in the footsteps of the first two Gothics, buggy, quirky, kinda fun, but overall mediocre.
