Shattenkirk been handing out freebies all series. Although I'm not sure who's been worse...him or Holtby. Good lord, don't even know what to say to that game. Goaltending, Shattenkirk sucks, goaltending, more Shattenkirk sucks...I guess not shooting the puck directly into shot blockers to turn it into a turnover and break the other way for the 88th time in the series would be in my list somewhere too.

I have no idea what that ref was doing even waving off that Geno goal initially. Or what took them more then 4 seconds to overturn it and acknowledge it was a good goal. Shit wasn't even a question.

Funny how last series against Columbus, Werenski is bleeding all over the ice from a facial fracture but refs let play continue while Pens maintained control in the O zone...and they score. Everyone knew if it had been a Pens player down, whistles would go nearly immediately. Only took waiting until the next series to see that proven right.

God damn tonight was a shit show. Don't even know what to say, unless we can get NHL level goaltending this will end quick. Try and win Monday night and get back in it, I guess.

Refs have nothing to do with it, if anything only thing they really screwed up last night was originally waving off the Malkin goal. I still don't even know how he thought that was interference even at real speed live. The Penguins are fantastic at being opportunistic, I give them full marks for that. I feel we've controlled the majority of play in both games so far.

We haven't gotten NHL level goaltending in Games 1 and 2. Holtby had 2 last night that were extremely weak (despite being on odd man breaks), and the 2nd Kessel goal that Grubauer gave up was...yeah. It's no excuse, it's just reality.

Pretty cool moment in Edmonton. Anthem singer mic not working or something, so he gets Edmonton crowd to sing out the American national anthem. Gotta give props to Edmonton home crowd for knowing it, now the Canadian anthem singer is letting crowd do it for their anthem too even though his mic is working.

I don't think Niskanen did it maliciously, but given the result, 5 and a game is probably the right call. I think game penalty is mandatory with major for cross checking, anyways. As much as it benefits us with Sid out, I hope he's able to come back, no one should have to suffer that. Little unlucky going down changing where he took the hit, but Niskanen has to be in control...and getting him right in the head like that deserves the penalty.

I don't disagree that it's a reaction type play...but I mean he ends up cross checking him in the head. With the injury factored it, I can understand why they gave him a major and major on cross checking is automatic game misconduct I'm 99% sure. Sid hasn't come back yet either. I know we hate the guy, not just because he's great...but I don't wish another concussion on him above anyone else.

All other things aside...both goalies have been really good tonight. Fleury got unlucky with the bounce on the 1st goal, and no real chance on that 2nd.

I'm as optimistic as they come...but man. This shit is brutal. Holy fuck just score the next goal in OT and get out of there with the win.

Of course Shattenkirk scores. Literally would have been okay if we benched him after the game/series he'd been having. Only the Caps. Gotta go out and find a way to get a win Wednesday too, though. 3-1 would still be almost impossible to overcome.
