intrigued by the nickname "DJ" for Del Toro's character, and that its not a throwaway. As usual, another great article by VF for Star Wars.

Didn't the article say his character was unnamed in the movie? I'm assuming his role will be another Max von Sydow situation.

How the hell is Phasma still alive... the other two are main plot characters so you hand wave away their survival in the aftermath... but phasma "throw her in a trash compactor" or whatever - manages to get out also?!

Kylo is actually the one who has the most logic problems for how he managed to survive. Hux bailed as soon as it became apparent the shit had hit the fan for Starkiller. Phasma probably had the clearance to move around all of the base, including in and out of it's trash compactors. KR was bleeding out in some random location in the woods as far as anyone of consequence to his survival was concerned. If they hadn't edited out the scene with him finding the Millennium Falcon we could have assumed that his escort was ordered to go find him and they would have been close enough to get to him before the planet imploded.

Wasn't Hux ordered to go get Kylo at the end? Eh I figured Han squished Phasma...but he is/was "hero" and they do not do that type of thing...unless your in R1 and your informant buddy cant climb.

Yes he was but how would he have found him in time to get to him and get him out? I know it's one of those plot points you're not supposed to scrutinize too closely but it still begs the question. It's easier to connect the dots on Phasma surviving than it is Kylo.

Really? That is the best he has ever looked to me, but to each his own...

I thought in TFA he looked like shit, frail and weak, and was terrible casting. He looks far more Imperial there with an extremely strong healthy high-cheekboned facial structure which is probably accented by his hairstyle there.

Well remember they "cast" the armor before they ever cast Christie to wear it. The silver trooper armor was originally supposed to be for Vader 2.0 (Kylo Ren) but they later opted to go with a darker motif more reminiscent of the original issue. But they liked the look of the silver armor so much they decided to create a character to show it off anyway.

I don't envy whoever had to photograph that. Drives me crazy that you can see the ceiling and scrims in the reflection

You would think with all the CGI that's in the movie anyway they would just go in and MSpaint her shit non reflective silver in film editing.

They have to do it anyway for the pew pew lazers.

She wasn't a pilot in TFA but some sort of communications officer at the Resistance base. Supposedly she was going to a little bit of dedicated screen time in the saga going forward as an assistant to Leia but ...

Wow. That blurb is not fucking kind to the memory of Fischer.

"As soon as the filming ended she grabbed me and said, 'I better be at the forefront of IX!'".

I can believe it, but the tactful thing to do would be something like... not mentioning that she demanded it. lol.

Smiling very hard at tactful and Kathleen Kennedy. You must not be familiar with this driven woman, she has no time for all that social etiquette or caring about other peoples feelings malarky.

She turned out to be quite the consummate professional at terrorizing a majority of the OT cast. Don't get me wrong, hypothetically speaking I'd leap at the chance to work with her.

But I wouldn't have some rose-colored glasses on about the 1980s re: how great she was with Spielberg, and that she is THE GIRL to wrap up the franchise to like George did-- sounding like a strung out junky while explaining away the decision to sell to her before the deal was closed. Might have even been high on something, oh, the 4.2 billion.
