X'd out with the quickness.. trihard toxicity off the fucking charts. How big of a stick up your fucking ass do you need to write something like that?

Still amped, and we can decide for ourselves come Sunday. It's on my "Things to live for" dry-erase board still.

It's another McFarlane show, of course it's going to get bad reviews from official sources. Mainstream writers hate Family Guy and etc. Wait til the fans see it and respond.

I am watching this random netflix show- Noremen or something, its a comedy but I didnt expect it- nor did the blurb say comedy- but its kinda "serious" comedy- with violence and nudity... so it wants to envoke dramatic elements and keep a comedy overtone...its odd...but entertaining...

so I will wait and actually judge once I see this one

It has decent production values and it's sci-fi, and it's not on the SyFylis channel. I was in the moment I heard about it. If it flops, oh well. I will give it the old college try.

Also, it doesn't say how many eps the review covers, I'd expect all the time wasted setting the basics of it up will make the first episode feel slow anyhow.

It mentioned 3 from what I remember - it mentioned stuff about the first 2nd and 3rd episodes

Ah damn, that's more bleak then. Hopefully just an edgy reviewer trying to get early attention, I'm looking forward to this. Major network sci-fi has been so meh recently.

"I don’t doubt MacFarlane’s sincerity here: It’s obvious that he’s a genuine Trek fan, and we could always use more great science fiction on TV. But The Orville‘s sci-fi plots are either shamelessly derivative — c’mon, Episode 2’s human-zoo storyline was already a plot on both the original Star Trek and The Twilight Zone — or suffocatingly preachy, like in Episode 3,"

Episode 3 is the gender debate SJW one apparently.

some alien has a baby or some such happening, it's called a boy or girl and then they are told or discover that species does not have sexes or its fluid or whatever and so must we be as humans bla bla bla - so as with most mcfarlan stuff, it teases SJWs but at core it's still full on libtard SJW faggotry

I am excited that critics don't like it.

it's not like this is the first time in SCIFI that an alien race has actually been gender fluid or androgynous. I would wager it's been done at least once in every major scifi universe that had many alien races. Based on what I've heard, it sounds like standard shit and someone just got their panties in a twist over it this time because the right words weren't used. If anything, having an actual gender fluid race would be a slap in the face of snowflakes who think they can be whatever they want to be. But we will see when the episode actually airs.

Most of us don't care about the content - we care about how they present it and preach it.

We just have hurricane stuff... they didn't show the orvill lol... so we will have to check it out later.

I thought it was good enough. Not amazing enough to rave about after one episode,, but won't be ashamed to admit I watch in mixed company. Decent balance of humor, homage and newness, particularly in Trek style characters talking like normal people which is not as high brow, but more realistic and funnier. I would say it was as expected, which is acceptable.

Just watched it.

Honestly it wasn't bad I thought, certainly wasn't expecting a tng or ds9 so it's fine. I really like the setting, wasn't as grimdark as current star trek. The cgi was decent enough, in some areas you can notice it wasn't that great, but it's tv so it's fine. As expected some raunchy stuff like dick and balls jokes thrown in and a lot of other cliches. Will keep watching.

Well they aren't trying to get the show canceled like World Peace. Not sure anyone expects anything otherwise from a show like this. A tease or a little nod is really quite daring in today's climate.
