I have a 6hr layover in Chicago and as a ny'r sacriligious, but I'll get a deep dish, to Gravy!
He was a lover of all pizza, so get whatever your sweet heart desires. He got a slice once from a shop in Penn Station... I don't know the name of the shop, all I know is that I went to the ladies room and when I came back, he had a slice...and no he did not get one for me!

As an Asian uncle, I had to teach my 30yr old nephew how to eat at a pizzaria, like an Italian.

Plain slice/pie, if you want want meat, get a sausage roll "uncle, what's a sausage roll?"

Holy shit... Finish that off with a rice ball slathered in sauce

"Uncle what's a rice ball"???

And he grew up inbrooklyn, and lived across the street from a pizza store for 10 years! He moved to Jersey and picked up those sloven ways of food, god damn jersey.

HAHAHAH...so dying; when we went it was for our store - went on a buying trip (Manhattan) but we booked the trip late and it was through the consortium of vendors so we had to go to whatever hotels were left on their dime...some HoJo in Newark. Our first night there we were exhausted and ordered from one of the menus that had been shoved under the door - pizza, fried chicken and bean pie (OK I got the chocolate cake - cause wtf was a bean pie?) Found out - G loved it..so much he made bean pies at home once he found a recipe. I hated the texture; flavored with the same spices as a pumpkin pie but too gritty for me..was happy I had chocolate cake. OH crap - what a trip that was.

Were you taking Amtrak or the Subway/Long Island Railroad? If the former it was probably Don Pepi's. If the latter it was probably Caruso's or Rosa's (Rosa's is way better than Caruso's)

Also, I learned that oxy and pain meds can interfere with bowl movements, my dad's worried about going to poop, he's taking ducolax and other powered stuff to counteract it, but he's just not pooping everyday, and holding onto pain 7/10.

I keep telling him 4 days is a problem dad, two is like the avg American diet..., Press the button, get more oxy.

His right leg is basically eaten away by the cancer now, everyday I massage it like a roided up Vietnam ladyboy, putting all my weight behind it and he feels next to nuttin (but he likes the pressure)

My sister's have checked out the Waldorf of Chinese hospice, well see if they accept him (they will, we have the hospital recommendations, etc) tonight, even tho this hospital is pretty nice, got him that whole lift thing so he can still goto the bathroom without a catheter and diapers.

I'm glad I spent the week basically being his nurse until he said yes to the hospice, and he'll be taken care of by the staff.

Also, for a 70yr old man living on 99.8% asian food, he took to hospital food pretty quick, but the asian hospice will have an Asian cook, or you can just order the take out from there, it's pretty good it's 86th bklyn, so it's like mini bklyn Chinatown (8ave is Brooklyn Chinatown, just FYI).

I think that was my last time with him, he's probably gonna be loaded up on oxy now and sleeping more, I don't think he wants me to see him any more than past that, so my next time out will be his funeral most likely.

I hope they find out what is wrong with me soon. The passing out and not knowing my blood sugar is low has happened at least a half dozen times. EMS had to be called twice. Me dying doesn't really bother me, but it's killing my parents who are not exactly young.

The constipation caused by the pain meds needs to be better managed....it can be very painful and exhausting for him otherwise. He needs to make sure he is drinking enough fluids with those bowel meds or they too will constipate him...Go figure.
I am really sorry that he, you and your family are going through this.
Like it's been written here before: Fuck cancer!

Yes I don't think he's even constipated, he's just thinking he had to poop everyday and he's worried about not physically being able to poop. I think I'll buy a garden bed tomorrow, stick it in my yard, and he'll probably smile knowing I'm gonna garden now. I had wanted to build one, but fuck it, I need a quick Walmart thing or something.

Ducolax is the go-to, but a lot of people need to add magnesium supplementation to get the fluid in the colon to move things. Duco +Magnesium (citrate or oxide don't mater) + lots of waters.

You can take up to 500mg magnesium without any concerns no matter who you are I'd think. I personally used up to 800mg of citrate but only 400-600mg at one time. Jar of magnesium costs 10 dollars or less at the Walmart.

Citrate is more rapidly usable by the body (health reasons) and oxide is the more irritating one to the colon and less absorbed into the body. Oxide is also cheaper. I still take magnesium for health and wellness, so I use citrate.

There is a brand new drug called Movantik FDA approved for opioid constipation but I've never read any reviews on it. Some people say it affects their pain relief level, others say it was a wonder drug for them. Doc would script it if asked I'd guess. It works by knocking the pain meds off of the intestine receptors. edit: looked into the movantik, polarizing reviews.

I just had to give one of my patients an enema bomb (yes it is called an enema BOMB). Magnesium citrate (500mL), glycerin glycol (300mL), and 500mL of sterile water. I have never seen so much shit piled up in one spot in my life. Guy was shouting, "SOMEONE HELP," since I had tube still up the guy's butt.

Oh my god that sounds horrific. I was blocked up again after my recent surgery and all they gave me was one suppository and I was in and out of the bathroom every 10-15 minutes for over 12 hours. I was so tired but thought of dozing off and having a blow out was enough to keep me awake until it passed.

Where do you even do something like that? Some special room or special bathtub?

Its very often in the bed with a bedpan. And human sized puppy pads. And a set of fresh linens on the chair.

Or two.

Or it sounds like three, in this case.
