He wanted out from before Spectre was what I heard from the cinema blogs. Now I guess he has sort of accepted his fate and the studio got cold feet on the casting calls they were doing.

I'm all set with Idris Elba as Bond. I just don't care for gimmicks and Elba is already saturated in generic heavy action roles for me after all the movies hes done. He has too much movie history to become Bond. Craig, Pierce, etc didn't have the deep rich action movie history of an Elba. They had low mileage on them when it came to action movies.

2 more Daniel Craig's is very comfortable. The names they were throwing around, aside from Elba, were atrocious...Alright, Fassbender piqued my interest just a little. But then they went back to a different black guy (can't remember his name) and I was like, bring back Craig-- STAT!

He loathes the franchise but they threw $100M for 2 more movies at him.

He's just doing it for the money, you get that much money thrown at you, you're gonna take it. Its not like he does much else.
But yeah seems like he hates it, his tweet doesn't even sound happy about it, they better hope he doesn't just phone in the performances.

Spectre was seriously just a bad movie. I can even kind of enjoy some of the later Brosnan movies but Spectre was godawful and yes the ending is just... among the worst minutes of Bond film to date.

None of the Daniel Craig movies have been "fun" to watch like the old campy Bond movies, and only Casino Royale has a gritty plot that has you invested in the story. Goofy ass gay twink javier bardem ruined Skyfall for me. Which is why I'm sad Craig is gonna do two more movies, because history suggests both will suck.

Oh well, as someone said Kingsman, Mission Impossible, some Bourne, John Wick, etc are now better spy movies so a new shitty Bond movie every 6 years isn't a big deal

Well, the writing was on the wall.

And actually, I really liked Skyfall. It was a great return to "old Bond". They did a damn good job with it. And I didn't mind Adele's song. I remember hearing it on the radio a lot as well.
Casino Royale was actually the movie version of Ian Flemming's first Bond book. The one that started it all. That's why so many people loved it.

They should have gone CR to Skyfall and then taken it someplace else. QoS was just bleh story wise, it was at best a four chapter sub-plot destination set piece for the spectre story.

I don't disagree with you. But I really did like Skyfall a lot. CR to Skyfall would have been nice, but they probably would have included some of the brooding for the lost girl that QoS gave us. He was such a brooding bitch during that one.

I don't get all the hate for Skyfall. I loved the locales, music was great, Javier was OK as the villian and it had a hot asian chick.

They couldn't exactly put a that track as the opening number to this shit-heap, it would've been both false advertising for the mood of the entire movie (dumb shit and explosions).

I know a lot of people rag on Skyfall because it lingered on origins and humanizing 007, but honestly that was the interesting stuff to me. IIRC they completely jumped away from that formula in Spectre and just made another big dumb loud movie with infallible Bond.

From the interviews I have seen with Craig talking about Bond, the reason he is so love-hate about the franchise is he is directly involved in every element of the film, he is the yea / nay on alot of what ends up on screen . Pre-production, locations, layouts of action sequences, he apparently also does a lot of Bond's wardrobe. He said when they start one he does it 24/7 til it's in the can, and it was ruining his family life. He is super balls deep into every facet of those films, overseeing scenes he is not even in. He aint hanging out in a trailer in a tux waiting for them to call him.

Skyfall had its issues but it was a solid part of the "neo-bond" movies. QoS had a lot of issues and really shouldn't have been an entire movie - the "stadium scene" was Bond-like but the rest was...off

Specter was good, yes issues but still good...until magic bond at the end.

Apparently, during the writer's strike, he was even involved in writing Quantum of Solace. I wanted to like Spectre more, but the thread of Blofeld attempting to torment James Bond in the early movies, while assumed by the audience that knows the franchise, seemed poorly supported by the films..

Even more reason to move on to a new Bond then, because him having his hands in everything isn't doing these movies any favors. I generally enjoy EVERYTHING I see in theaters, but I actually dozed off during Spectre. It was pretty bad.

I don't get all the hate for Skyfall. I loved the locales, music was great, Javier was OK as the villian and it had a hot asian chick.

reasons i hated skyfall:

- M's decision to abandon Bond at the start is dumb, movie wise. We all know Bond isn't going to die, so the scene has no tension for the audience. Its just setup to make Bardem be able to say "see, you are like me! but more handsome!"
- the "magic hard drive that contains the name of all the agents" is directly ripped off Mission Impossible, and they did a poor job of it
- a former 00 agent who wants to bring down MI6: Goldeneye did it better with Eddard Stark
- Barden's performance was more Jim Carrey than Carey Grant
- Bond gets captured by Silva, but it was intended as MI6 sweep down and capture Silva. Who intended to be captured by MI6, as he wanted to find MI6 HQ. Which he escapes from, accomplishing nothing during his captivity. And drops a train on Bond using preplanted explosives, but where would he have known to put the bombs if he didn't know where the new MI6 HQ was? WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THAT ENTIRE 45 MIN SEQ except to show these two guys are so smart they predicted the future like the Kwisach Haderach.
- the entire plot of the first half of the movie (the NOC drive) is now abandoned so we can chase down Bond's orphan issues at his Scottish house where M plays Home Alone with rando henchmen. Just changing the characterization of Bond from guy who chases bad guys to guy who plays defense with an old lady is the ultimate anti-Bond move.
- Casino Royale set up a great premise for Bond: he is a brooding, dark character because the women he loves (Vesper) is murdered. That is entirely abandoned because of Skyfall, he is a heartless spy because he was an orphan. It gets even worse because of Spectre.
