What a terrible episode... didn't laugh once. Didn't really understand what they were going for.

Tens of millions of people use FB. You would be incredibly ignorant to think ads don't sway a large chunk of people to do/believe anything.

Especially when adblock blocks, none of the ads

I didn't say that people weren't swayed, I said those people were fucking retarded. Read better.

The Netflix stuff was pretty good. The rest was alright, but still barely worth DVRing.

the Zuckerberg thing was really awful - not funny at all. the way he looked was hilarious though, so dopey. I wish they saved him for a really good episode and then really tore into him

the franchise stuff was funny.

this week was a funny, seems these standalone non virtue signalling episodes are going to be the only good ones. also seems when cartman's gf isnt around is a sign of it. i wonder if matt and trey are telling their fans these are their approved episodes and the gf is supposed to be whomever is telling them they need to be more political.

imo, they're too busy with the release of the video game to script up an episode revolving around the "news of the week" so they just pulled this script from reserve, which is the best episode of the season so far...

i mean, it's not super great, just better than the shit season so far.

You might be confusing the virtue signaling term for presidential criticism, bro. Virtue signaling is superficial belongingness and oversentimentality.

In other words to publicly express your opinions mainly to prove your intellectual and/or moral standing in order to fit into a social group. A little bit of sentiment and normal displays of kindness, belonging, empathy and diligence are normal. Any expression could be claimed as virtue signaling.

First episode was boring, the rest have been average.

virtue signalling is when they toss in zings to show they are with the cool kids in the TDS virus crowd. its not criticism when they show putin apologizing for rigging the election. shit never happened, its pure VS.

It was a better episode but it still wasn't really all that good. Season is half over and it seems like a total bust

Rick and Morty blow away anything South Park has done in the last few seasons. I am pretty sure that when their current contract is up Matt and Trey walk away.

Your orange is showing sir. They never said he rigged the election. They stated he used fake news on facebook to cause problems which is a fact.

Yes and by this logic anyone who bought political facebook ads also caused problems and should apologize.

But I did like the Marcus character. Just because I found his voice funny.

Really? I took it as making tons of fun of people who believe that Russian adverts on Facebook swung anyone's opinion. The meeting with the parents where they just couldn't believe kids were running around shitting on girls while they slept seemed aimed directly at fucking morons who got their news from Facebook.

And Butter's dad grounding him and Putin? I didn't take that as them being very serious about the whole thing.

That's the best thing about south park and always has been. They manage to be over the top and at the same time subtle enough that people with differing ideologies can interpret it however they want. That's how I know Matt and Trey are back on track this season. I find it curious when people get pissed because it conflicts with their world view. If you see shit like virtue signaling, it's because you want to see it.

There have definitely been a few great episodes and a few not so good episodes, but this season is a win in my book because all you fucking pussies are crying. Loving it.

So many people on this forum crying about SJWs and then turn around and get butthurt about making fun of the president, or Russia, or anything that isn't in your political alignment so much so that you consider it unfunny. Heres a clue, its all funny. Making fun of SJWs and PC Principal is just as funny as making fun of Trump/Russia.

You're just a bunch of pussies like the SJWs that you love to hate. Thanks for Making South Park Great Again!

Yes, that is what I meant by virtue signaling. I do not care who's the target of ridicule as long as it is good. I'm not so personally invested in politics to get butthurt either way.

Virtue signaling can be whatever is valued by a group. It is not confined to political shit. But concerning politics for instance, pro-conservative rhetoric in a right wing group could be claimed as signaling virtue, or pro-left wing vice versa.

So far these episodes are simply meh regardless of that shit.
