Lol oh yes, that feature.. There are woooooo many little pissant things that all end up doing the same thing- it's so annoying to track down. Of course I am SCCM primary it's always my system that's causing issues. What stinks is I didn't build the initial setup so when sccm gets "odd" it's troubleshooting one in a million little things.

We did a primere review of AD and made a lot of changes etc. Some still on going. SCCM is supposed to be next for use of our hours. So we will see how many we have left after they are done hiding ignight fees in the premiere money lol.

So, I've been holding onto Windows 7 for a while now as I am just generally pretty stubborn with my operating systems.

Is it worthwhile to switch over yet? I have an MSDN license so its not like it costs me money or anything (yay work!).

Well that was the most painless windows installation I have ever done. Awesome.

How often does it reboot?

It basically auto schedules a reboot time after every update. I eventually got so sick of the automatic updating followed by the automatic reboots that I totally disabled Windows Update. Now I have to remember to manually run it every few weeks at a time that works for me.

I installed the Fall Update tonight and so far so good. I had a problem with my Gsync monitor that was producing a black screen, but switching Gsync in the Nvidia control panel to "fullscreen only" instead of "fullscreen/borderless window" solved it.

I love seeing my GPU usage in task manager now.

Unless you want easy access to Control Panel. Shit pisses me off.
? I type "con" into the search box and its the first thing that pops up. Even then not sure why you'd need to go into control panel. Most of the important stuff is accessed by right clicking the "windows/start" button.

And control panel is one of the things removed from access when you Right-Click the start button.

I'm an IT guy, when I'm on someones computer 50% of the time its to go into control panel.

Only thing I really use anymore since I moved out of desktop support is computer management/event viewer type stuff thankfully. Hate the "Apps and Programs" used on the right click/start vs whats used in the control panel. Generally hate most of the windows 10 interface settings panels.

Agreed. Most of Windows 10 (and obviously 8 or 8.1) start menu changes are interface AIDS. Every Windows computer I use now I just put Classic Shell/Start on and install it through ninite

It isn't an option for everyone (ie: work admin/group policies and what not) but if you're just using it on a personal computer and dislike how the fucked with the start menu it is REALLY nice to have. I think I first started using it in 2010 or so and haven't looked back since.

First thing to do in Windows 10 is right click unpin everything from start. Then go find the shit you use (click start and just start typing) then pin it to the start menu. Resize the icons to whatever size you prefer and you are good to go. You can control start menu layout with gpo as well

New update finally added a dark theme you can set for folders and other parts of the UI.

I've read a lot of complaints about stuff disappearing with the patch. I've had it since late yesterday. Only notice it bricked my itunes saying I needed a library. Only use it for podcast so I just listened to it today on the website. Probably have to reinstall it. Luckily I just switched to 10 and had nothing local mostly.

Nevermind. Couldn't find my library or start a new one. I uninstalled and reinstalled and it showed up just like it was before and signed me in and everything and had all my local music even tho I had to put a new library on another drive. Odd. Oh well I don't use itunes much, only podcast.

The new clipboard deal that can manage your clipboard stuff if you have it enabled seems like it "might" be of use, not sure yet. But you have to enalbe it and you get a popup stuff to manage the clipboard when copy/paste and such.

October 2018 Update (not automatically being pushed yet) is reportedly deleting users files;
Windows 10’s latest update is deleting some users’ documents

I've not seen that myself, but I have run into another issue where Windows is creating a temporary page file, and its killing me that I havent been able to resolve it. My initial setup, prior to the update, had no issues. I had the page file on a spare drive, so as to not waste space on my primary. If I have the pf on my primary drive, no issues. If I have a smaller pf on my primary, and a larger one else where, no problem. As soon as I try to have the page file just be on the secondary, upon reboot, i get the temp page file error. I have a few more things to try yet, but im not hopeful. I also deleted the old windows files, as i normally do, so a roll back isn't possible....regret! I'd prefer not to even need a page file (32GB of RAM) but I've found that a few games wont run properly without one.
