Honestly, that horse meat looks a hell of a lot better than how it was prepared when I ate it:

It's actually such a vibrant colour that it's called "Sakura Niku" (Cherry Blossom Meat)

It looks delicious, and I would gladly grill it up and eat it Korean BBQ style but Japanese eat it raw and I'm not down with that.

What is it with the japs and raw food?

Are they fucking afraid of fire or something?

I realize you're being glib, but the answer to that is Japanese cooking focuses on emphasizing the natural flavour of food. As little preparation as possible is the core of Washoku.

Can you call it "cooking" if there is no cooking involved?

But a lot of work goes into ramen.

At what point is ramen just a small side dish inside the bowl

Well the idea is that ramen is composed of 3 elements working in harmony. Toppings, Soup and Noodles. You combine various of the 3 in order to get different flavours and textures. You usually end up eatingt the toppings first and after that you eat the noodles out of the soup, before finishing off as much of the soup as you feel comfortable with.

Now back to something Japan is doing right..

The dutch have a cured horse meat they slice very thin and put on sandwiches. It is delicious, though salty. Just like everything Dutch.
