It's not "bad" but I never did a real setup just like I never did a calibration of my TV... I did calibrate the speaker volumes.. That's it.

It's a 6? Or 7? Year old 5.1 Denon.

If you still have the microphone that came with your Denon, you should definitely run the setup. The processing has changed quite a bit in 5-7 years. With that being said, if you are happy with your current setup, there is no reason to change. You did wire 7.1 though, if you have the speakers in place already, I’d probably upgrade to get use out of them.

Yeah I have Polk OWM's 6 normal OWM3s for the FLR CLR and RLR and the OWM5 for front center - wife wanted crown molding so I took it as an opportunity to get all the speakers up there and run the wire in the trim so I didnt have to bother with anything in-wall except where they all come down to a panel.

It came with a microphone! most likely...who knows what I did with it...its somewhere, wife is asian, keeps all the "new boxes!" - she was so happy when we moved because she put everything back in their retail boxes for the move...

Just as an update to the LG OLED 65” for $1700.00., I finally received my check from price protection. It was submitted on 10/1/17 and came in 11/1/17. Couldn’t be happier with the purchase.

Anyone with experience with projectors? I'm trying to get one for Christmas decorations (every other Holiday as well), and want 1080p, but not really any specifics other than that. Was hoping there was an older work horse that was pretty popular out there?

Thanks.

So I took the plunge and own this awesome B7A 65" OLED! :)

With that said, I am looking for advice on configs. I have my Set top through HDMI 1, XBox One S through HDMI 2, and PS4 on my HDMI 3 (All HDCP 2.2 compliant) running to HDMI 2 (ARC) on my OLED so I can use the Netflix app on the set because I seem to like Dolby Vision better than HDR10. (My new receiver will pass all three HDR standards)

Does anyone have any good advice on settings for

1) Game with HDR
2) Game without HDR
3) Movies/4k with HDR
4) Regular TV.

Anyone gotten this far yet with their set up? Any advice?

Yeah not looking for that much in depth discussion or work. (Also something more current than 2007 would be nice haha)

Looking for basic settings.

that pack has "basic settings", the very minimum you should do is calibrate the black levels using the "black clipping" file

And if you're calibrating to the SDR reference of HD.709 then why would the date of the calibration images matter? The whole point is they are reference images and as long as they match the standards then the date is irrelevant rofl

or just pay a professional (especially if they can do a HDR calibration).

I copied some forum settings when I got my TV, the calibrator turned up and laughed at how far off reference they were

Well, it's been a long time. I thought things have changed since 2007 and new standards and reference material has come out since then.

Edit: Also, been researching a little bit and finding out a lot of things already. Like most are stating to turn Dynamic Contrast off, Color Gamut to Auto. Well, with the B7A, Dynamic Contrast to off turns off Active HDR - It needs to be set at a minimum of Low for Active HDR to be enabled (Dolby Vision)

So I did some comparing and searched for differences in the various TV models. In the end it comes down to the Samsungs because I like the brand and I like the OneConnect box thing they have going. I'm also pretty decided on the 65" size (wife calls me nuts but it will fit nicely).

What I'm somewhat undecided on is the model. Now they use different numbers in the US versus Europe but basically I want the 65" Class MU9000 4K UHD TV TVs - UN65MU9000FXZA | Samsung US
but there's also the 65" Class MU8000 4K UHD TV TVs - UN65MU8000FXZA | Samsung US
and depending on retail pricing it may or may not be a huge or miniscule price difference for a somewhat negligible difference in performance.

I'm waiting for amazon to have their black friday week and if the price doesn't come down enough I'm also ready to wait until after christmas. Hoping for under 1500 euros and at that point the difference between both will probably only be around 100 euros, which I'd be willing to pay just because bigger number.

I've tried looking at both in the store but a) the lighting there is fucking awful and b) they aren't on display next to each other so comparing them side by side is not possible.

Going shopping with the wife on the 30th and there's a big electronics store in the mall we go to so maybe I'll have better luck there.

I have my LG TV connected through ARC HDMI to my Denon Receiver.

When I go into input, it sees my Nvidia Shield is connected to my receiver via the "Media" HDMI slot.

I just connected my new Xbox One S to the "Bluray" HDMI and it can't see it.

I really like LG's magic remote, but this will make me switch back to my Harmony Ultimate.

Any ideas on why it works this way? I can give specific models and a screenshot if anyone thinks it would help.

Do you have any of this going to the receiver? If so, make sure it’s connected to an hdcp input. If not, and it’s going directly to the Tv, make sure you go into settings and enable hdr on the input itself. All of them are turned off by default. Under general go to hdmi ultra hd color, and enable the ports.

I just bought the MU8000 65" for $1000 USD employee purchase a few weeks ago. I haven't unboxed it yet, waiting till I move into my new house. Couldn't pass up on the deal so I figured I would buy and wait.

I was looking at the MU9000 to purchase when I came across rtings.com which stated the KS8000 was actually the predecessor to the Q7F but its $1000 more than the MU9000. I've been going back and forth on which to purchase and was waiting on black friday. Now after hearing Ut rave about the B7 and doing some more research I think I've change my mind. I think I'm going to take the plunge on the 65" B7 even if its more than I liked to spend (upgrading from a 47" Samsung from 2011).

Now with that said, should I purchase BB's five year warranty for $599? Do we have any idea how long the OLED display will last? (read something about the display degrading over time)

Also, since I'm now jumping into 4k do I need to upgrade my receiver or could I use ARC (never have tried it) For example, sound produced from the PS4 ----> TV then from TV---> Receiver using ARC? (Am I understanding that properly?) Or would I be better off just purchasing this https://www.bestbuy.com/site/yamaha...heater-receiver-black/5784593.p?skuId=5784593 until I can upgrade my whole surround sound in a couple years? My wife already thinks I'm nuts for upgrading a "perfectly good tv" so I'm trying to keep the cost down where I can. I'll wait for Dolby Atmos

I would be so torn if I came across that deal right now. Congrats!

Is there a decent 65' screen with native 120hz refresh rate for under $800?

I have had the hardest time finding something to replace my 7 year old 55' Vizio because the only problem I had with it is that pitch black scenes look like ass on it if I have a single light on anywhere in the house.

Not sure what price you are paying, but highly recommend you go back a few pages if it’s any more than $2200.00 to see how you can get the TV for $1700.00. I’m referring to the 65” B7A

Hmm..must of missed it. Its currently listed as 2599.99 on BB and Amazon. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-65-...th-high-dynamic-range/5935272.p?skuId=5935272

Depends on if you want to take a chance with shipping from a LG retailer in New Jersey. A company called Beach Camera will sell you it for $2200.03 out the door, including shipping, no tax. You have to call for this price. You can then price match with a fraudulent website with your credit card (I used chase). The rebate gets sent to you in the mail bringing the total price down to $1700.00.

I’ve done this myself and can report I had no issues and a beautiful TV. I believe at least one or two others have also done this method. Seems sketchy, but is legit. If interested, go back 5-8 pages and you’ll see the entire history of my transaction and our discussion on it.

The 65” B7A is the best tv I’ve ever owned and I paid less than a top of the line 65” LED 3 years ago.

Best of luck, I understand if you wanna go with a local retailer and that makes sense to me, but there is a deal to be had.

Also, Black Friday should have some deals and I could see this getting to $2200 without tax at Best Buy.
