Pretty much. "Right or not" isn't the argument I'd make. The show is just repetitive and not funny. And his character doesn't have legs. Its the same shit over and over. I really enjoyed when the show started and they did investigative stuff presented in a humorous way. It quickly just devolved into his shouting at the camera and then calmly talking to the camera and going back to shouting at it.

I'm not what anyone would call a Trump fan, but the main thing with it is that almost nothing on this show about Trump has been funny. If I wanted depressing political commentary I'd watch a serious news shows - where are the lols ?

I can deal with criticizing Trump. I did for Bush, and Obama.

The problem is Joh nnow goes all in on "its us vs them". This last show he again goes off on how "We need to protest and call our congress members" etc

You can give me your "coverage" but flat out declaring a side is just annoying and he repeats the same shit over and over. I loved this show when we was shining the light on under the radar stories. But now he is just every news show with more swearing.

Enjoy watching the main research bits about 2/5 episodes recently, really would not care watching president pieces but I just want to see new material really. It is funny how hard their SJW episode basically shaved 40 % off the top of my viewership.

Would like to see him to do a main bit hardcore trashing UK "hate" speech.

This is the fucking problem. If Trump tried to sneak in some EO that was bad Id love if John Oliver covered it, talked about what in it is bad and why we should be concerned, he did well with those side stories about shit like the crappy auto loans and prison bail stuff, but instead its just hysteria over shit that isnt even that bad.

I only ever watch the main segments they put up on youtube, and those rarely center on Trump. He comes up, but he would, he's appointing the people being criticized and setting the policies being implemented, but it isn't about him.

I like that he's taking a stance in those cases, because he's not a reporter. And really, most of the time the media tries to talk about both sides of an issue it's stupid. It isn't meant to be a sole source of information on any topic, it's a primer. I have seen a couple of times he used some misleading facts, but I've seen a lot of other times that he approached an issue in a pretty common sense way. idk, the stuff I see still looks a lot like him shining a light on stories that either aren't being covered in the media or arent being covered well (Equifax, Arapaio, coal, vaccines, etc). I'm not sure what the rest of the show past those segments looks like.

I mostly agree. The thing you miss without watching the whole show is that in the last year, the opening segment has become all trump and they have expanded its time allotment and have shrunk the main segment. I think if you watch the whole episode youll see how its basically become "TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP for 15" and and by the t ime you get to the main topic, if it isnt trump related, you still have trump lethargy. Alot of us just enjoyed the show that broke the mold on what every other late night show or news show was covering. And many of his monolgue jokes are so formalmatic that it cookie cutter that they have used the same jokes as Colbert and Kimmell multiple times this season.

I agree he still had some good segemtns like t he ones you mentioned, but its still half a show of Shuit on trump without discussing policy (Just the "OH HE SO STUPID" shit) and now the segments that used to be 100 percent top of the line investigation is now 30 percent just extended "protest Trump".

Its less about "oh hes shitting on trump and we love trump"

its "John is doing the same jokes that are on 20 other shows right now and I just dont feel like hearing it more or again"

TBH his long segmentss often touch topics which would put most of the audience to sleep. His arguments are generally well sourced and researched, I just wish he would trust his audience a bit more instead of bludgeoning them to death with a punchline, but he is still a bloody comedian, not a journalist.

He also managed to explain a lot of hot topics that get lost in the 24h news cycle. Net neutrality, encryption, antivaxxers, coal etc.

That whole "fellow psychologist" thing is such BS and a pathetic attempt to add credibility to a crazy tin foil hat theory. His formula isn't brainwashing anyone. It's the same as every show where if you agree with him it's funny, if you don't he's awful.

I'm still able to find him funny while thinking he's trying to hard with his Trump shtick and the show is nowhere near as good as it was when he had other topics other than Trump's latest tweet
