made it about 9 minutes into the cam copy up to the part where WW lassos the bad guy and then has to explain to him how the Lasso works. Dialogue is so fucking horrid in this movie.

i dont understand why WB keeps giving Snyder the opportunity to keep fucking shit up.

After seeing Patty Jenkins' work on WW, they should have just let her helm the DCEU

I do not understand why they didn't pull Snyder off this shit. Someone made a video about the exact reason I think Snyder is shit but everyone thinks he can be great, I agree with this guy pretty much 100%.

Snyder has now spent his entire career trying to create those "meme" scenes in movies like "I am your father", "Run forest run" or..."This is sparta!"...In fact as the video points out, his best film was one that was essentially just a group of these moments that happened to fit together easily because he adapted the comic one for one.

Snyder wants another this is sparta. And he shits all over everything else RELENTLESSLY to get it.

This brings us to Superman. Who the fuck was he? He didn’t have the same personality, he was just different and completely unlikeable and honestly I would have rather the rest of the team solve problems without needing him. And again, the resurrection fight was so shit.

Honestly, this sounds intentional. They've been pushing the Injustice story-line HARD. The Flash "dream" was probably real, he's coming back from the future where they are losing the war against Superman.

I don't think Snyder will be back after this. Not in a director's capacity at least. They'll probably give him some sit in meetings for a check producer role to keep from looking like they're taking away the reins in the wake of his daughter's suicide. But JL will probably be the last we see of both Snyder and Affleck in the DCEU.

It looks like they're moving away from having a single director supplying the unifying vision. WB has talked about focusing on individual directors building up the individual characters and Geoff Johns has stepped down from some of his roles on the comic book side of DC recently, supposedly to focus on the movie properties.

characterization spoilers plus some plot spoilers!
affleck as thomas wayne in BvS was outstanding. they dialed him down in justice league to be much more emotionally present and i feel that was a misstep.

while i think momoa did a great job with what he was given, i think aquaman was weak and one-sided. they were obviously going for the barbarian king aquaman, which was the right choice, but he didn't have any of the heart that arthur curry has. aquaman has a hook for a hand because he cut off his own arm to save his son. THIS aquaman was never given the opportunity to demonstrate anything like that. also, aquaman is all upset with humanity because of how much they pollute the ocean... and one of the first things we see him do is break a whiskey bottle into the water and swim away. it was silly.

wonder woman as the defacto leader? i don't know... like batman said, she's done nothing. she's had the opportunity to be a beacon like superman and decided to open a museum. on top of that, they work so hard to show how strong wonder woman is, but her first love dies (heroically i might add) and 80 years later she's still acting like a jr high girl about it. she's the only girl on the team, and she's the only one who was actually EMOTIONED into paralysis. great move guys!

flash was boring for me. i don't hate ezra miller, but i don't like barry allen as a spastic hipster.

cyborg was better than i expected, but i wasn't expecting much. kind of feel like there wasn't really much there to him though. also, it was stupid to me how much aquaman hated cyborg but did a complete 180 offscreen somewhere. he goes from telling everyone that "cyborg is probably a traitor" to the very next scene we see the two together, aquaman refering to him excitedly as "my man!"

superman was supermeh. i feel like there were several scenes where we are supposed to cheer for him, but there was so little to be emotionally entangled by in the film that no one cared.

steppenwolf was VERY CLEARLY a snyder thing. i highly doubt any of his dialogue was changed. he was the king of one-liners. everything he said was a one liner. every sentance he spoke was meant to be a moment and it was super obvious.

finally, cgi was terrible. just terrible.

OK, saw this tonight with my wife and some friends of ours.... here we go.

Things to agree with the general sentiments about:
  • Steppenwolf was just a boring CGI mess as the main villain...
  • Superman was just.. not right in this film... dialogue, pacing, everything...
  • Better than BvS, worse than WW.. very "meh" while is kept trying to find "cool"

Things I liked :
  • I actually liked Batfleck, wish the combo of his pissing match with the studios and his current PR issues hasn't essentially guaranteed he won't be back under the cowl.
  • .. damnit.. i'm struggling here.. you people REALLY gonna make me find a second thing? OK, screw it, I liked Aquaman in this. Party hard "do you even lift" bro-tastic at it's best...

Now my personal shitting on the film
  • This movie was so Snyder'ed up that no amount of Whedon witty banter could save it.
  • The villain choice was just horrible. They could have had an intro to Darksied and warworld without leveraging an overacting pile of CGI.. hell.. how does CGI even overact like that?!?
  • Hate me for it, but Grant Gustin has done such a good job embodying the Flash on TV IMHO that I kept asking myself "Why in the hell did they have to make him an annoying, overly snowflakey hipster?!?" And kept wishing that he would Flashpoint himself in the effort to go back and warn Bruce and Gustin would be the alternate Flash that showed back up.

I felt the same way! It was so stupid! They like repeated half of WW. It was so unnecessary!!!

I was reading the reddit thread in r/movies on this. Insane how much a lot of them loved some of the worst shit. Like they're clamoring over the resurrection fight scene, which was pure fucking shit. .. I'm going to go see it again in next few days. I truly want to like this. Maybe the "extended edition" will be an improvement like BvS was.

Something else that was terrible, the whole thing with the Amazons was horrible too. Like the fighting was bad, the action seemed slow, it was just weird. Fuck man.. I wanted this to be good so damn bad. :)

i watched that fight scene and thought that the reason for Cyborg's automated defense system firing on Superman was so contrived.

"i cant control it!!"

its your fucking suit, faggot.

I feel that way about Abrams and Christopher Nolan. Abrams is a cheap version of Spielberg while Nolan shoots everything like a music video. Every scene has got to be an iconic event. Ends up as anything but. Snyder's the same shit.

thats pretty spot on.

Its also exactly why the death and return of superman fails so utterly.

OW tracking for this is starting to dip below $100 million. That would be a major disappointment for WB, especially with it having looked more in the $120 - $130 million range just a couple of weeks ago. That would be less than Wonder Woman opened up to this past summer and it's very unlikely that JL will have the week-to-week holds that movie did (which were very impressive). The possibility of JL actually loosing money has entered the picture.

I wonder if next week we'll see Thor return to more screens if JL continues to tank. I saw Thor twice, wouldn't mind seeing it maybe a third time (moviepass) over thanksgiving weekend but only if I can see it on the big DolbyVision screen, and right now my local AMC has JL on that screen 100% of the time. I remember a few weeks ago they had Geostorm only on it for a weekend and then when it was clear that movie tanked they put It back on it half the time, lol.

Zero desire to see JL again in theaters, even for free.
