I don't agree about the Americans. I mean, if you want to watch a spy thriller, then maybe The Americans isn't for you, but the family stuff is not shoehorned into that show, it's 100% central to the story. In Homeland it's mostly a distraction. The Russian Illegals were nothing like CIA agents. They were 100% integrated in American society, living undercover for decades in some cases just like it's portrayed in the show.

I mean, you're not wrong. I personally just wanted them to go about bringing in Paige into a potential KGB situation differently, or maybe kind of leave her out of it until the end. Wishful thinking I guess.

i'd agree that russian spy family life is enitrely essential to the show and the backbone of it really.

actually i think they cheat a lot, theres no office interactions, no neighbors (other than stan fbi), no friends, no school, nuttin

sure thatd be a boring show, which is why they throw in the playboy style sex and killings every third episode.

I think if they were able to have a strong kid cast, this would have worked, or like show the B-team russian spy family.

binged through season 6, only way to watch this show. I think i'd stop watching if i watched week to week, since some of the episodes are absolute dogshit but some are really fantastic. Pretty good season, closest to female-24 since season 1. All the stuff where Dar and Saul or Dar and the Iranian guy or Dar and the Israeli's talk are freaking gold, every moment with Carrie or President Queef or Alex Jones is fake news.

This is the Homeland I want, looking at possible future bad scenarios, maybe a little too hard on the Illuminati angle but otherwise good stuff with the black Muslim who is not exactly a terrorist but kinda is, the fake news stuff, etc.

Next season looks stupid as fuck though, taking down a paranoid president just requires the president to keep doing crazy insane shit for a few years, don't need Carrie for that. Saul vs mountain man Alex Jokes looks retarded.

First episode was decent, but they're definitely pushing for a heavy hatred of the President character. She's a full blown twat.

Carrie still doing Carrie things, though.

i still don't know if she was supposed to be crooked hilary, until Trump won, then they just threw everything Trump into the pot.

Obviously the former since the odds of the Hollywood ever erring on the side of Trump winning was fucking nil.

Is this show worth watching now? I loved the first season, but then it went to crazy town soon after and I stopped.

The previous 2 seasons were pretty damn good as well. It's a different type of show than it was. But seeing the one guy become horribly gassed was fucked up.

Everything with Brody is worth watching, after that not so much

Totally disagree. They ran out of story for brody after season one and they were trying to shoehorn him and his family in after that. The show got much better after he died although some episodes have been hit and miss.

I think Brody arc was very good in s1 and dried out fast during s2. It felt like "okay we wrote something very solid for a whole season and we had no idea if there's ever a second season, we did it anyway".

They fucked it all up by not having him go through with the suicide bombing. Season 1 was great and I stuck around through 2 and 3 but lost interest after that. Sounds like it may be good again so I may jump back in and see.

Agreed. Only other way they could have played this, would have been to do season 2 or 3 as him as a double agent inside the government as either a congressman or even VP. They kinda glossed over how he became a congressman - he got it through special election I think? But did they even show him running and getting elected?

Anyway, double agent politician with Carrie trying to figure out who, might have made for a good story.

Carrie has crazy hair brained scheme/theory

Everyone thinks she’s crazy and off her meds

Technically he did go through with the suicide bombing: he pressed the button.

About this last episode, you would think Carrie would know better considering her background not to download random files off the internet, especially from 4chan. I did laugh at O'Keefe clocking himself in the head after shooting the gun though.
