So I guess I'm confused what the issue is. I've got a GTX 1060. Should I just not buy it?

Like I said, I used Movie Studio 14 for the month trial and liked it. If the rendering time is comparable, I think that'd be fine.

Yeah, Vegas Pro-Edit is all the tools and basic effects in the software. Vegas Pro the standard edition has some more effects you can add in (But you can buy those separately I believe.) Pretty much like a game not having some specialty skins.

It's just for AVC encoding. Essentially, from what I gather, the encoding for that can't use Cuda Cores because it uses Open CL. Older Nividia cards support Open CL better, so they work. But all this means is there is no hardware acceleration for encoding for AVC, its all done on the CPU.

Apparently the overall verdict is it slightly slows down rendering, but its not a major hit at all because the hardware acceleration for this codec was always shit anyway? Which is why they didn't jump through hoops to keep it. I have an AMD card, so take that how you will, its been working like a dream for me. I did try it on my wife's computer who has a 1060, and the rendering of a simple video didn't take longer that I could notice. Overall, I don't think many people would notice this except for people who do video editing for a living and spend a lot of time rendering.

Another software bundle: Fanatical

Has anyone used PowerDirector? I know it has less features than Vegas Pro, but is it more straightforward to use for those creating simple videos (I'm talking compilations of baby videos level stuff)? Is one or the other more stable? Seems like a lot of people complain about Vegas Pro crashing a lot. That PowerDirector tier is only $5 and the Vegas is $20 and I don't see a point in spending more if there's not much point, so I was looking for any firsthand knowledge of PD.

Exact same. My girlfriend and I play it together but would like to get the expansion pass... and I'm buying both of my klds computers for X-mas, I'd like to have ARK on each of them as well. Come on SALE!
