CEMU is the best Nintendo Switch Emulator. You can run BotW smoothly with better graphic if you have a decent PC. It is one of the main reasons I don't own a switch. Plus the Switch doesn't have cloud save etc.
Pretty sure the emulator is for the WiiU, not the Switch

Yeah the Switch emulator is nothing atm, but for Zelda you can just play the Wii U version instead, which they optimized a lot with the CEMU emulator so it actually runs well enough and it looks way better than the switch version as a result.

For every other switch game you're pretty not playing them for the next ~2years or whatever on emulator I'd assume.

I see it happening pretty fast really, if it's a non-modified Tegra X1(which I think it is).

Ya CEMU is only for WiiU, Melee/Mario Kart I've heard are starting to run pretty good on it.

It will. Top 10 video games of all time. No bullshit.

I was actually surprised at how much I liked it because I get paralysed by choice in a lot of open world games. I was pleasantly surprised at how natural just exploring felt. Being able to put pins on the map was definitely an amazing idea. I'd probably place it in my top 10 too, which is pretty impressive for a launch title honestly.

I still place it as my second favorite Zelda game, behind link to the past

It's kinda weird because it's hard to compare it with the other Zelda titles. From a game to game standpoint I think it's the best title since OoT in how genre defining it is. My personal favourite Zelda is Majora's Mask and it's hard to really compare BotW and that though.

As much as I like BoTW, it doesn’t feel like a Zelda game and I hope the next one isn’t at all the same.

Yeah me too. The Divine Beasts felt pretty Zelda-esque, but I'd much prefer them to have more large scale dungeons like that and Ganons Tower along with the large open world.

I'd actually like the return of certain items that aid exploration like a hookshot or boomerang behind these dungeons too, I like that mechanic from the older zelda games.

It's crazy open, that's for sure. Probably have 3 hours in so far and haven't done much. Just exploring and trying to get used to the controls, I keep hitting the wrong buttons in combat and menus.

I'm currently trying to get some raw meat to make that damn recipe but I haven't found an animal to slaughter yet.

All the divine beasts end up being are oversized shrines that you can flip on their sides. It's weird because BotW is so polarizing for me internally. As far as the overworld goes, it is the quintessential Zelda. Not since the jump to 3D have they been able to capture the feel of LttP and the original until this one, and it does it in spades. And I love all the call backs to the previous games that are in there.

However, the other pillar of Zelda, the dungeons, is severely lacking. The Shrines are really cool, but they are just small puzzle rooms or a boss arena to fight a guardian in. I'm not sure if this was just a time issue and they wanted to nail the overworld more than anything and just ran out of time, or if this was just a conscious decision on their part from the get go.

And then mechanically, they can't seem to get out of their own way. They have tons of things that are just cool. The world's design, layout, and feel. I like the actual combat itself. The progression system works for me and finding the shrines to add to my power just feels natural. However it's all soiled by this obsession with making this a survival game. Extreme weapon decay is ok... if I can make the replacements. This game, however, the only way to get weapons is as drops or in chests, so having weapons break as frequently as they do is a major pain in the ass. Eventually it kind of levels out as weapons finally start to last more than just a battle or two, and the master sword being indestructible (just has to charge). But the beginning hours of this game are really frustrating in this regard. And then Weather affecting your ability to climb is huge, since you are doing at least some climbing about 80% of the time. I cannot count how many times I've fell due to rain just settling in and I'm a million feet off the ground and have to glide down and wait for it to end to start it all over. It's not hard, it's just a pain in the ass. And then mounts are way too squirly and you can't really call them anywhere unless they are within earshot of your whistle or you go to a stable.

It's still a great game, but the design decisions I listed above keep it from being an all time classic in my mind. But at least it has made me utter a phrase I haven't uttered in almost thirty years: fuck wizrobes, fuck them right in the ass.

Mario:

Me and the wife have played this and we have hit our limit at just under 700 moons. Great game, despite them recycling the bosses a bit too much. All of the original bosses (or the recycled ones the first time you fight them) are brilliant. However, some of the moons on each world were beyond my skill level (I'm not that good of a platformer), and after the Mushroom kingdom, the extra worlds you unlock are just recycled boss fights and challenges and at that point, it's mostly just one person watching the other play as cappy gets to be less and less important as the game goes on. I totally loved the 3D platform collectathons from the N64 era, and this game does an awesome job of hitting those nostalgia feels. If you have fond memories of any of those games, this game is great.

I mean the idea is kinda cool to me, but $70 for some cardboard (and the software I guess) is typical nintendo

This is actually a really cool idea, it'll be great for kids and their imagination. Especially if it's cheap, get your kid a 10 dollar toy that they can fuck up is good times. Anything that get's kids into building/creating is a good thing.

Edit: is it 70 dollars per cut-out or what?

You can get the patterns for free if you want to use your own cardboard. The reason it's $70 is because it comes with the software.

Apparently Nintendo will keep replacing the cardboard too if it breaks or whatever.

This looks great for my two sons, a bit pricey though.

Main problem is the Switch seems pretty fragile to me, I'm not ecstatic at the idea of putting it in a cardboard toy that might get kicked around or accidentally stomped on.
