I don't understand. If Emperor Lorca and his people wanted to immigrate back to the prime universe with a bunch of warships what was the problem? they were just dreaming of better lives.
Did the prime u people just think they were better because of the lack of eye irritation? were they racists?

Well her academic background is psychology / sociology so guessing she had a fairly non-standard admiral. Her specialty was stated to be negotiation and diplomacy with new races so she's probably only remaining because everyone competent is dead.

I am wondering if they won't use time travel shenanigans to deal with all this. I don't think the prime universe had the Federation nearly destroyed 10 years prior to the original series timeline.

So... every single thing people complained about in the first half of the season was actually a secret plan for the mindfucks in the second half of the season?

Everyone is an asshole? Captain Lorca is from the mirrior universe and is a bad influence.
Captain isn't the main character? Two of them killed off so far.
FIrst Captain & Crew killed off after 2 episodes? Just so evil mirrior universe captain #2 who knows kung fu can conflict with everyone later on.
Klingons look weird? Biological warfare to pacify them like the forhead ridge thing Worf wouldn't talk about?

This is the best TV I have seen since Breaking Bad or Daredevil Season 2.

Wait when did biological warfare happen? I miss something?
They have some sort of secret plan for Kronos right?

I'm assuming it'll be linked to the appreance change (thought they already kind of dealt with it in Enterprise).

I still scratch my head as to why Qo'noS is pronounced 'kro-nos'. Well that and the whole capital at the end business.

Qo'noS is the Klingon spelling/pronunciation obviously. They don't have a K or a lowercase S when you write it with the latin alphabet.

So is this show worth a watch? Is it better then the Altered Carbon shitshow?

It's not bad. I'm actually enjoying it quite a bit at this point DESPITE the fact that, other than Saru, I don't particularly care about any of the characters.

So I haven't watched anything past episode 9, and I hear the latest episodes kind of make up for that, but I'm still hesitant because of how blatantly irritating it is that this show claims to call itself Star Trek. But you know, I would be totally down with it if they surprised the shit out of me by killing the "main character". 10/10 if that happens.

Not sure how you think this show isn't a Star Trek.

Just because it calls itself Star Trek, has Klingons, and sci-fi, doesn't make it Star Trek. There's zero exploration. Zero "Discovery" outside the name of the ship and completely ludicrous scifi concepts, even by Trek standards. There's no peaceful mode of action. The main character kills a Klingon in the first episode when she invades a foreign entity's religious object. There's no moral dilemma, no moral lessons that aren't forced SJW trash. It doesn't portray modern conflicts in a futuristic light, they're still very modern, or even in the past. Also, Dixie cup frat parties. It's not episodic. It's not mature.

It's the Star Trek equivalent of The Last Jedi. It shits on the core concepts of the thing in the name of being "different", while only keeping the same set pieces. There's no character development. There's nothing that draws me to any particular character for honorable reasons. The ship design sucks, even if it is based off rudimentary pre 60's trek design, minus the jumping animation. The cgi is the only thing amazing. That part definitely kicks the shit out of every previous movie or show, including the new movies. But that's all it has.

Show has its weak points but its a solid take on a serial trek show. Thats what they wanted and they're doing it pretty well. If you want "so today is star date xxx and we arrived at planet yyy" go watch literally every other trek TV show. I've seen enough of those personally.
