Just joined the LG OLED club, bought the 65" C7P from Fry's Electronics in Tempe for $1899+tax.

They have the 55" for $1199.

Catch is, it's in-store only and you have to ask for the price.

Getting delivered tomorrow, can't wait to start playing Monster Hunter on it =)

EDIT: I bought it with my Citi Card and according to Slickdeals I can try for a $500 price rewind using something like Joe's AV where the 65C7P is being advertised at $1395. If I end up getting $500 back on this purchase I'm going to be one happy guy (already am that I got this at such a nice price).

It really is an awesome deal on the OLED's, wish they would ship. No Fry's within 900 miles of me so not an option, unfortunately. If I could find a 65" under $1900 I would probably pull the trigger at this point

I expect they will continue to drop down into more reasonable territory as more brands bring out their own OLEDs.

Did what all new OLED owners do and watched Planet Earth 2 in 4k.

It's just a beautiful picture.

As far as I know, no one other than LG is making TV sized OLED panels. While they are selling panels to other manufacturers like Sony realistically LG controls the supply so their prices are likely the floor for the foreseable future.

Anyone with the LG OLEDs over the last year or so seen any burn in issues? Peeps over on slickdeals are whining about it.

That is the only thing preventing me thus far from dropping dime on one. I'm waiting on rtings.com's burn-in testing but if anyone has any feedback, that would be great.

Pyksel mentioned it but Rtings has a 20/4 burn-in test on so=me top models including an OLED - 20/7 Burn-In Test: OLED vs LCD VA vs LCD IPS They also have another test running with strictly OLED sets.

It should also be noted that the OLED burn-in isn't traditional image retention, its actually the pixels degrading. You can mitigate it by lower brightness but it isn't reversable (unless you could bring the entire screen to the same wear level)

So I got my $500 credit back from Citi Price Rewind program.

LG OLED 65C7P for $1399 + tax on the original purchase price of $1899.

Fuck me, I'm beside myself.

Keep an eye out for future sales and try and purchase with a Citi card and look for the online dealers that offer too good to be true prices. Apparently Citi will honor it up to $500 if within 60 days of purchase.

is there any use for a broken lcd tv? we purposely purchased the cheapest 60" for the family room, it rarely plays anything but kid shows now. turned it on the other day and the screen was visibly cracked, you can barely feel it behind the plastic coating at the point of impact. SHOCKINGLY, our boys don't remember hitting it but say they might have.

Man kicking myself for not buying the c7p when the price match was so damn low. B7A right now for 1899, just the PP and rewind are garbage.

I purchased mine about a year and a half ago. I have a 55", and there are zero burn in issues. I know it's an issue with OLED in general, but I don't keep it on the same image for long periods of time. Like... weeks at a time with no change. So if you ONLY want to play video games with it, that might be an issue. Especially if you only want to play a single game with it. Because then the UI might burn into the screen. So if you're planning on playing the same game for 12+ hours a day for over a month (like using your TV as a monitor to play WoW or something), expect to get some burn in. But if you don't use it like that, you'll be fine.

EDIT: Ok, found my post. It was in September of 2016 that I purchased it.
I've been in love with LG's OLED technology since stumbling across it a few years ago. Well, I treated myself today and picked up the $2500 OLED55C6P. I'm excited, but a little apprehensive (buyers remorse) of just how expensive this thing was. Oh well, it's getting delivered on Wednesday. I can't wait. Love me some OLED goodness.

This is a HUGE upgrade from my old 56" rear projection Samsung DLP. It was originally purchased around 10-11 years ago for $1700. One of the first true 1080p TV's at the time. It was decent for gaming, but I can't wait to see the OLED in action. Not to mention, it'll be fine for my daughter's netflix crap. Pokemon, Little Einstein, Octonauts... Whatever.

I bought an LG 55" UHD smart TV just a month ago now. For under a thousand Aussie dollars. = $988.00 to be exact. Not the one of the OLED ones, but I'd set myself a price range.

Loving it. Prior to that I had been paying ( won't say how much ) for pay TV service, I had it for the movies package + Game of Thrones. I realised that I could by a new TV get Netflix and Stan ( Australian based competitor - has a good sized library ) and after 2 years from cancelling the pay TV it'd pay for itself.

Oh yeah cool side story, I was going to buy the 48" LG of the same type. As I would need to fit it in the rear of my car, Ford Focus hatchback. But found that on the websites of the places selling them, there was good box size information. I went and double checked the rear of the car with seats down etc. It was a perfect fit for the 55" TV's box. Like the car was designed to transport that size box.

8 year old plasma dying, black horizontal line half-way down the screen.
Wife often falls asleep watching dem' programs so not gonna worry about burn-in anymore and go LED.
Do I wait to see if Sony has a new flagship 2018 Z9D, or pull the trigger on the 2018 Samsung Q9FN ?
Pure TV, no gaming on it...

New TCL 5- and 6-series TVs are trickling out today, ahead of the official release date (May 1). I've been planning to buy one since it seems like by far the best bang for the buck, but now I'm torn on whether to get the 5 or the 6. I really only care about it as a PS4 display; it will see some use for Netflix/Prime Video/Kodi but that's not the priority at all. Not interested in spending serious money on a TV until HDMI 2.1 features become reality, specifically adaptive sync, and that's still years away if it ever happens at all.

My dilemma is that the only apparent difference between the two sets is that the 55R615 is $150 more because it has local dimming. I'm not really convinced that a low-end local dimming implementation is worth getting at all though. Anyone with a P605/607 have thoughts on how well it works for gaming? The new model has 96 zones compared to 72 zones last year so it should be somewhat better at least.
