I have been to smorgasburg in Williamsburg many times. Its heaven. Never been to the other locations but I am sure they are awesome too. Should definitely go somewhere for good omekase too. I like sushi seki but if that is too pricey, you can do katsuei in park slope. It's not nearly as good but its a third of the price. Also go to okonomi in Williamsurg for breakfast.

leaving Saturday early morning- so the wife is getting excited as are the kids-- but yesterday and today the wife is sick so she is now more than normal asian stressed that she will be sick for the trip.

I kind of want snow...but...its not like the kids can go play in it like in NC @ my brothers house...they just get to slosh through the streets with the rest of the cold miserable people in the city, so maybe we don't want snow.

good lord, I do not have the energy to live in NYC...

It was fun trip... Statue and Ellis - Times Square - Macy's Flower Thing - 9/11 Memorial - Nat history Museum - and 3 China Towns, canal st sucked, half the "beginning" stores were ran by Indians wtf - I quote my Asian wife "I am not okay with that" - but the brooklyn china towns were some good food...ate with the fam at 2 places, both awesome. Hotel was on broadway and 34?or whatever Korea town was- again some good food but didnt have much time to explore food randomly :-D

will visit... but I could not live there

I would be down to live there for two years. I love NY. Excellent place. But yeah, I would probably party myself to death there.

canal st is a tourist trap, you have to go deeper in to Chinatown, like Mott st, also ktown is a block away from the empire state bld, so you can remember your experience that way.

Note: I was dragging around 2 kids @ 6yr and 5yr old...and a wife with IBS... so party time is a no, and experimental eating was a no...

only saw 1 subway rat I chased to the grand amusement of my children

only saw 1 guy from afar playing drums in the subway

didn't get to yell "I'M WALKN HERE! I'M WALKIN!!!" even when I stepped out with the locals into traffic - - only once did I see a Mercedes SUV just blaze through and like in the movies where everything goes perfect - the dude missed everyone.

only 1 active walk through "i am homeless, give me money" bum on the subway, but tons of them around the streets etc. just sitting there with QQ signs.

and sadly only 1 street food, but it looks like its all "the same" halal foods now... so eh... oh no wait, I did buy a bagel from one for breakfast one morning.

found 0 blue and white Greek coffee cup places

and only 1 Chinese knock off purse/watch seller beating a dude with her bag - she grabbed him and ripped open his jacket and a few bags and shit fell out - lol, but by then I realized I was watching the spectical and whatnot and not paying attention and that sometimes those fights are used as distractions, so I felt my wallet and pressed onward.

many, many asian people pointing at my giant ass self and mumbling - this one little kid straight up outta UP looked at me pointed and said something, and my wife's uncle just started laughing - I was like "I don't want to know" he was like "it wasn't bad, its just his exclamation was so truly in awe it was funny- hes most likely NEVER seen someone as big as you"

Yeah Avenue U "China town" isnt real china town. Plus its mixed with my people, the russians, of the southern brooklyn variety and those are gross. 8th ave is best.

The homeless situation in NY isn't really a situation. I can't believe how vagrant free Manhattan is.

The 8th Ave one is the 3rd one we went to to eat with the fam.

The Ave U one, none of her uncles or anything knew anyone- it was just a restaurant that the "cousins" knew and wanted to go to

8the Ave the great grandmother knew random people and we stopped by 5 bakeries to get 5 different things because each one is better at X than the other. She also randomly wondered off and got me some shirts lol.
