Far Cry 5

Playing on Xbox One X, even more beautiful than PS4 Pro! altho i imagine a PC version would be fantastic too, although HDR is probably a bit tricky

Its the most Ubisoft game so far of all Ubi games, very map / waypoint / clear outposts oriented with extremely clear (too clear) goals and side missions and all that jazz. Sticks HARD to the formula of Assassins Creed, Far Cry, etc. Story is fine, nothing amazing and a bit eye rolling at times as they try to cram in their Ubi systems into a story. Like I can understand how in Assassins Creed once you clear an outpost of the Borgias and reinforce it with your own men the enemy won't come back, but here its a bit harder to swallow that a cult with apparent infinite resources won't bother to attack an outpost defended by like 2 guys.

Enjoying it, but if you hate formulaic, obvious games with a shit load of collection and generic outpost stuff this game is definitely not for you. Loot is a bit weird, without any sort of Primal / Eagle vision (maybe it comes later) it feels a bit Skyrim-ish in trying to figure out what you can loot and what you can't. The world feels a bit hollow and empty compared to other recent open world games. Its GORGEOUS looking for sure, the nature stuff is absolutely FANTASTIC, but the insides of buildings feel "wrong".

One hilarious thing, at the beginning of the game at a certain moment if you just sit there doing nothing the game ends after 3 minutes, every Far Cry game I believe has had this "15 minute ending" although Far Cry 4 did it the best.

Look for an NPC with a gun icon over their head. The store is confusing as hell, but you can buy sights, suppressors, and extended magazines for most weapons.

Assassins Creed Origins had the same thing, with like 50 things in the store that let you buy weapons, outfits, and horses for $$ (no loot boxes). However, all that shit was completely worthless since really weapons were all normalized to levels and there wasn't that much of a huge difference between weapons in a specific class. FC5 seems the same too, I saw some of the stuff in the store and they all just seem like stuff you'd buy because you want your weapon to glow purple, not because the weapon is really, really good or better than a normal drop/in game buy.

The clothes stuff is also weird considering its a FPS not a TPS, I have yet to even see my character outside the creator. Your PC also doesn't talk ever I think, which I'm not a fan of.

It's almost like the left wants a civil war, they have such a hard on for injecting politics into everything that is used to escape the real world.

It's been awhile since I got laughs out of multiple streamers. GG Far Cry 5. Shame since it doesn't fit SJW narratives it probably won't get GotY so no special edition everything for me to get later on. I'll get it first sale if possible though.

The map editor is pretty fucking cool, you can lay down tons of textures from varioous Ubi games - AC4/5, Far Cry 3/4, Watch Dogs, etc - and then lay down textures, setup game modes, spawn points, weapon loadouts, time of day, animals, and all kinds of shit, and then publish it for everyone to play. I'm playing right now a game moode where it takes place inside a baseball field and everyone only can use bats, AND lions are released into the field at random to maul players LOL Its pretty damn awesome

The only bad thing is that while the gunplay on consoles is ok for the campaign, it really shows its weakness in MP mode. Its quite bad. Might be a lot better on PC with kbm.

I published one map, its retarded as fuck Yeti Pirate Island. For anyone who wants to edit their own maps, one pro tip: go into Menu (3 buttons on XB1, options on PS4 I assume), EDITOR OPTIONS, and then click VALIDATION to have the map editor check your consistency and shit. If you go too far without doing that it can be a real bitch figuring out whats wrong, like animals aren't placed correctly, spawn points too close to other stuff, bad texture angles, etc.
