His earth lines really bothered me and continue to do so.
Does "hell" even exist in Star Wars?
"Brandy"? I'd rather him have said something about blue milk

Han was surprisingly fun; I'd definitely watch him again

Han tells some Rebel to go to Hell in Empire Strikes Back before he heads out to find Luke. So it's not like it hasn't been mentioned before now.
Also I know there was Corellian Whiskey in some books, I know it was in the old Star Wars RPG books. They also had Ales and Beers, so no reason why Brandy can't be a thing.

Well this was a lot better than I excepted, though I'd expected a complete garbage fire of a movie and was planning on just skipping it. Wasn't the best movie, but was enjoyable enough. SJW droid was fuckin' annoying, but there are a couple of neat callbacks with her apparently, so she wasn't completely useless as a character.

Regarding the whole cameo. Han has been around the whole galaxy and he’s never seen...well you get the idea.

Also if it isn’t in a movie you shouldn’t expect people to know. Unless Kyle Katarn shows up.

I also enjoyed this, it was a fun Star Wars movie. I'd like to see more, I think the overall cast was great. Harrelson was kinda wasted here, but he was good enough for what the role required.
The Droid really rustled my jimmies til they got to Kessel then I thought it was great. I really wish they would have made her more like HK-47 and toned down the girl power stuff and stuck to her "Free the Droids" mentality.

I thought this was pretty bad overall.

The robot L3-37 was annoying as fuck.
The humor was cringe.
Lando was pretty solid
I was surprised at how much i actually liked Woody Harrelson

The kid playing Han did OK. To be super honest, I would have been fine is this werent about Han Solo but just a story in the Star Wars universe...

The last act was the one real redeeming part of the film imo. Up until then, it was pretty much boring, cliche, and at times, pretty bad.

Darth Maul?? Really? Timeline issues aside, this universe gets smaller and smaller when it comes to these relationships.[/SPOILERS]

I was going to watch this but I decided God of War was more fun to play.

Did breakfast and a movie with some friends today to see this.... 10am showing. Theater less than 1/4 occupied.

Review? A solid 4.5-5/10. Very Meh. Might have been more entertaining if it hadn't had all that Star Wars entails attached to it, but did "feel" like a star wars movie enough. Khaleesi looked far older than I thought she was, credit to the GoT make up people I suppose.

Caught a mid day showing with my 10 year old Nephew.I had low expectations going in and I was still a bit disappointed. He didn't seem thrilled either. Theater was far from full. I don't understand how Disney has been able to do so much damage to the Star Wars brand in less than 3 years. As bad as the prequels were, they were still Star Wars and they still felt special and got people excited. It feels like the life has been sucked out of Star Wars.

Caught an early 9am showing. I liked it. Thought the movie fit the character very well. A fun action flick - exactly what a movie based around Solo should be. You guys are also so predictable. Walking back from the theater I knew you neckbeards were going to complain about SJW shit and here we are. How do you guys enjoy anything at all? Y'all starting to sound like conspiracy theorists. Any time a white dude isn't the hero you get your jowls in a tussle. Act like SJWs get offended so easily but you guys are getting worse.

The young girl leading the rebellion thing though was pretty lame. Han at the start of New Hope wouldn't have done the "right thing". Other than that I thought it was good. I think some of you are expecting high brow film. I don't think you remember how bad the original Star Wars were - objectively speaking as a highfalutin film cinema critic would.

Watched it this morning and it wasn't that bad. There were some eye roll moments like the SJW robot, but all in all it was a fun little heist movie with some star wars fan service. This isn't a stillbirth like The Last Jedi.

Edit: The theater was pretty dead when I went to see it.

You are pretty retarded in this post. My only issue with Star Wars is that Last Jedi is a huge pile of crap of a movie. It fails as a film or story in pretty much every basic aspect. I do not care who the hero is as long as it is well written and well executed. Last Jedi was neither. Kennedy's and Johnson's comments on top of it was the last straw.

There have been several beloved female leads in the Star Wars universe that have been loved. For you to imply that its because of non white male lead butthurt is just embarrassing for you.

Watched it last night. It's okay...

It's a prequel nobody wanted, where the stakes are completely undercut because you know Han and Chewie, and Lando won't die. Rogue one had a problem in that the stakes were there but the main characters were unlikeable so you didn't really care if they died (other than the droid). Action scenes without stakes can get boring, but at least there's a lovecraftian Elder thing in one of them so it's not all bad.

Theatre had 10 people in it, was a 10pm show though. This seems like it's going to bomb.

Funny, most of us loved Mad Max. Personally that was one of my favorite movies ever, despite a woman clearly being the main character and Max being her sidekick. How do you explain that, Alex? The white male main character was replaced, and it was a woman's story, and yet no one bitched. Weird eh? Almost like the problems people here cite are specific, and often explicit (With writers/directors overtly stating their goals), and often have very little to do with the ideology in question, and everything to do with how the focus is on that ideology BEFORE the work someone is supposed to be doing (Like writing a good story).

I always love this defense though "If you react to people with clear, explicit agendas, you become the same as them speaking about nebulous, invisible things!!". No one here is railing against "systemic" bullshit that you can't name--there are SPECIFIC grievances and statements/actions from SPECIFIC people that illustrate an ideological agenda, and even that agenda typically is not the forefront of complaints, its how the bedrock stuff SUFFERS due to the pursuit of that agenda by these idiots (Again, an example--no part of Rey is bad, because, oh gosh, can't have a woman be flawed!) And its not hard to connect the dots as to why with explicit statements and actions by the people in charge.

Kathleen Kennedy founded the group in 2012 when she succeeded George Lucas as president of Lucasfilm, putting Kiri Hart, a former film and TV writer, in charge of the unit. Ms. Hart’s first move was to make the story group entirely female, starting with Rayne Roberts and Carrie Beck.

“As a writer I was very hungry to create female characters who felt real, and I was interested in telling stories from an outsider’s perspective,” Ms. Hart said, recalling Hollywood in the early 2000s. “There wasn’t a lot of receptivity to the things I really wanted to write about at the time. I think there is increasing openness to those things now, which makes me really hopeful.”

It's not about a white male not being the main character at all. Its about the bad writing, and the terrible story telling--and the evidence from OUTSIDE the movie that illustrates a majority of the concern was NOT to tell a good story, to convey an ideological position. And the story clearly suffered, greatly, as a result of that. (And it doesn't NEED to, as said, the female empowerment symbolism in mad max was pretty overt--but they told a good story, so people didn't give a shit. Furiousa was also flawed, she lost her fight to Max, she rages at the other women, she despaired and then overcame--she was fucking awesome. The original star wars also had some pretty obtuse symbolism with Nazism, but again, it was wrapped in a great story so it didn't matter.) However, in this case they didn't make a great story, or even a good one. So them focusing on trying to pimp their ideological views while they can't get the basic structure of entertainment down? Just comes across as cheap propaganda.

And lets be real here, Alex. It was pretty ham fisted, wasn't it? The white male hero from the original movies, whose defining strength was literally hope--was turned into a cowardly, pessimistic asshole who was so bereft of hope he'd become a nihilist. The other white male is evil, and regularly devolves into rages where he hurts people around him, oh and of course it was the original white males insecurity (Luke) which drove him to be that way. Meanwhile the MC has zero flaws, zero--didn't need anyone to teach her anything, and instead was simply amazing at everything within a day of learning it. It's ridiculous, and I think you know it. I get it, its rough to watch your childhood get shit on. But it's not like people are seeing microaggressions or some other lunacy that has no specific examples. The writers and staff at Lucas have explicitly stated their intentions, and their work shows a clear emphasis on the WRONG things if they want to make a compelling story. I don't go to church because I don't want to be preached at--why the fuck would I go to a movie for it?

I think female empowerment is different to modern SJW feminism.

Some of the female characters in Mad Max were brutalised and raped, but were still sexy damels in distress and not all of them lived. Others were just badasses but even one of those was introduced nude and later fucked up and died pointlessly. These are not modern feminist things, it's the kind of thing you'd see in the 80s with Ripley and Sarah Connor. It is how it should be done though.

SJW Star Wars has plain female characters who do no wrong and have little in the way of struggles, one dying had to destroy the entire enemy fleet and Leia hardly mourned the death of Han/Luke. Rose's sister was the cloest to having an actual good female character but she got minimal screen time. Rey style Mary Sue is your modern feminist character, see Ghostbusters 3 for more examples. It's like they are all written as Disney princesses for children, SJWs infantilise women.

I think it's more characterisation and writing than story, you could do a great Mad Max film about a convoy slowly running out of fuel.

Fucking hell, just thinking about it, Fury Road was SO GOOD.

I look forward to the new Star Wars movies

LUKE WHOSE TALKING: Chris Pratt, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and Chris Pine raise a baby Jedi all by themselves
THE JUNGLE WOOK: baby Chewbacca is abandoned in the forests of Kayshyyyk and is raised by Rancors, Tauntauns, Banthas, and Porgs
THE PRINCESS DIARIES: 14 year old Princess Leia must navigate space high school, the cute lesbian drama student who is into rebellions, and the cliques of Rebel and Imperial bullies
BLACK LANDO: Lando has just won a Tibanna gas mining colony where the gas mutates him and gives him super powers and also makes him super horny and pansexual
PITCH PERFECT 4: Young admiral Ackbar wants to sing acapella but his parents want him to join the military academy. ITS A TRAP! is sung a lot in this musical.
