I gave some 1 hander + shield but they never seem to use the shield.

Tried forcefully dragging it into the offhand during a fight and they would equip it and unequip their weapon. Punch for a bit with the shield, then put the shield up and get the 1 hander back out.

I’m still not ready for the heartache of PvP and I really don’t have the patience for default progression pacing, so I started on a PVE server with 5x multipliers that looks like it has a decent population.

I found kind of a little grotto (Fleshtear Falls) at the base of a big waterfall and started building in there. Saw 3 or 4 people run through over the course of ~6 hours. Then I started putting up wooden signs that I made at the artisans table. I made a gate without doors at the entrance to the grotto with a sign that said “Welcome Friends”, then built a platform out in the open with all of the crafting tables & dancer Thralls and a sign that says “Public commons”. I also put a bunch of signs up along the newbie river that all say “Find Fleshtear Falls”.

Man, that was a blast. Within an hour, I had 5 people that were hanging out and bullshitting at my base, and another two that kept coming by to cure corruption periodically. They were also taking turns capturing nearby thralls and then having me dump them in my wheel of pain, then they would take the broken thralls out without having to drag back to their own base. Really fun. That was the first social experience I had in the game and it really felt like hanging out in the EC tunnel in EQ.

I know that other players can’t drop bound thralls in my wheel of pain, but they can still access it and store/remove items. They can still use the other crafting stations though, right? If I have an armorer’s bench, they can actually create items? Or just store/remove items?

Anyways, those wooden signs are fun as hell to use and apparently effective. If I put one near someone else's base, would that block expansion like foundations do?

Any of you nerds playing on official PVP servers? My crew is down to just 2-3 dudes and we may need to hop to a new server, can't compete with the 6+ member clans anymore on ours.

Lol PvE servers sure look different. Everyones base in PvP is a squat little brick of fuck you tucked away in to the smallest mountain crevice they can find, or perched on top of the highest tree/spire around.

That's been a big deterrent for me. Building is the main appeal for me, so I don't want my shit knocked down.

It looks like they just launched PVE Conflict servers on PS4, so I'll probably reroll on one of those.

The server I was on just poofed and I'm getting tired of people making huge changes to server settings on others, so I really may end up renting a FOH PVE-C server. Trying to talk a couple RL friends that played EQ into picking this up first.

If you like to just explore and build, private servers are the way to go. You are missing the chaos of random other-people stuff, but don't have to deal with everything vanishing.

Ours has been up since very early after early access started and we've never wiped. It's not the healthiest though, all those changes over time can cause a bump here and there but you shouldn't have that problem now.

Some of the early thralls got corrupted and have the name "DO NOT USE", and a friend has a female one chained to a wall, it's funny.

And the server's log spam is full of spammy errors from messed up structures and stuff stuck under the world and such. We probably should wipe but everything works pretty much so on we go.

Also we have all the building decay stuff off, because most people would come in and play for a week or so every few months and not want to come back to destroyed stuff. The changes they've done over time caused a lot of stuff to fall over though. Some bases survived all the months mostly intact. The changes to stability (the value that propagates between building pieces from the ground) caused some stuff to blow up, but mostly it was the addition of all the no-build zones for npc camps.

It's what unlocks fast travel to the obelisks around the map. You have to run in to the undead city down in the dead center of it and talk to the archivist to learn the recipe.

A friend started up mostly default pve server, which is like super hard mode compared to what I was used to. Smacking an iron node and getting 2 or 3 per swing vs the 30 I was used to haha.

It makes the feat tiers work really well. Late teens get tough, then you hit 20 and stuff opens up. Then at 30 steel stuff opens. On my easy server you plow through all that so fast you don't appreciate it.

A look back and the way forward - Conan Exiles

A LOOK BACK AND THE WAY FORWARD
June 6, 2018 | natascha
Dear exiles,

We’ve been working hard on technical fixes and crash fixes since we launched and we’ve been steadily patching out improvements to the technical side of the game.

But there is more to our roadmap than just stability and technical improvements and so we wanted to take a moment today to talk to you about what is coming down the pipeline. You’ll be seeing three types of updates going forward: Major Updates, Minor Updates and DLCs. A lot of this is based on learning from Early Access about what we are capable of delivering and how often.

Minor game updates are changes like bug fixes and upgrades and tweaks to features. The larger free updates will contain new features that adds to the current Conan Exiles experience. Finally, the DLCs are paid cosmetic content for the game, which we will also try to release regularly. DLC will help us pay for the official servers and continued development of the game.

We are also currently working on stabilizing a patch that consists of over 500 changes/adjustments/fixes. These range from relatively small (worldbuilding fixes, improved animations and hitboxes, Audio fixes) to bigger (balancing work, adjustments to Purges, new attacks for some bosses), to only name a few. However, due to the sheer size and number of items in this patch, we want to make sure we have as much time as possible to stabilize this build before being able to ship it to you.

This is an overview of our current plans. Keep in mind that this plan isn’t complete and there may be even more features added to it.

MAJOR UPDATES
Taming and Pets

You’ve been patiently waiting for this one for a while, and we are proud to announce that we are also working on getting our pet and taming systems into your hands as soon as possible.

We’re currently working on the tech and optimization that goes hand in hand with adding this to the game, and we’ll talk about this feature in detail very soon.

New Dungeon(s)

In addition to the Pets update, we’ll also be adding new dungeons to the game. Currently we have several in production, one of which is tied explicitly to the Pet system. More information on those soon as well.

Jhebbal Sag Religion

Who better to join the pantheon of the Exiled Lands than the Lord of Beasts himself! Jhebbal Sag will become available as a religion to those strong and brave enough to find him – and with his religion comes new altars, pet-focused religious items and, of course, the avatar of the god himself.

Side note: We’re also doing further balancing updates to the god avatars.

MINOR UPDATES
Archery

Power Shot for Bow – This will add hold functionality to the bow, rather than the delayed shot we have right now. This is an oft-requested feature from the community and one that we hope will improve the bow combat experience.

Special Arrows – Poison arrows, explosive arrows, healing arrows and light arrows will increase the arsenal of bow users in the game, and give them more options in combat. We will also ensure that these arrows work together with orbs to combine effects and give players more tactical ways to approach battles.

Combat & Animation

Off-hand Combos – In a future patch, we’re adding support for players to perform *different* combos based on the weapon that they have equipped in their off-hand. No better feeling that shield bashing your enemies into the earth or tearing into them with dual axes (throwing axe in the off-hand).

This adds more tactical options for players in combat.

Item Usage Animation – Slightly more controversial, but certainly needed, we are adding animations to usage of certain items in the game. Bandages and potions, for example, will force an animation to be played before providing their effect. This is to solve several potion spamming problems in combat – and is also a much requested feature from our RP community.

Modding

Automatic Downloading of Mods – This is a quality of life fix that we have wanted to add for a while – the ability to automatically download mods when selecting a modded server. Much requested by modders, this allows people a smoother gateway into the experiences created by our amazing community.

Please remember that these minor updates will also include bugfixes, balance changes, optimizations and anything we see urgently requested by the community.

DLC – THE IMPERIAL EAST PACK
This is a cosmetic only DLC that we will release in June. This culture pack, inspired by the country of Khitai in Hyboria, is made by our amazing character and 3D artists. They don’t work on code or gameplay updates, and the making of these DLC packs will have no impact on the further development of Conan Exiles.

It includes the following items:

3 new armor sets – Khitan Mercenary Armor (Light), Khitan Officer Armor (Medium) and Khitan Imperial Armor (Heavy). These armor sets are available from level 10, with an epic version at level 60 (requires epic tier materials to craft)
11 new weapons with Khitai themed visuals. These will be available as iron tier and starmetal tier visuals and will have appropriate stats for those levels (and require level appropriate materials to craft)
25 new placeables in Khitan style. These include new carpets, tables, braziers, lanterns, chairs, screens, drums etc.
5 new decorative warpaints in Khitan style.
A new set of Tier 3 building pieces in the Khitan style.

All of the above recipes will become accessible through the Khitan Artisan station, which is available after purchasing the DLC. As already mentioned this is a purely cosmetic DLC pack that won’t affect gameplay balance. You’re not buying power, just looks.

Thank you for your support, let us raise a bowl to the future!

Still enjoying the hell out of this game, even with all of the (many) bugs and the hollow-feeling world, as far as NPCs go. It's pretty tough to find information about crafting, "quests", etc though. I've basically just been progressing based on what I see in the build menu and what I want to work towards....that's about it. I've made it as far as steel weapons & T2 structures, and just spend all of my time building and farming iron/brimstone. I moved over to an official PVE-C server, which I'm glad I did. The 10x XP rates & Gathering rates were too quick, and I was on the way to ruining the game for myself with the offline + admin panel stuff.

I did have some douchebag wall-in one of my bases in the jungle, though. No reason to do it, I was way out in the boonies by myself. I found his base and put up a bunch of signs calling him a fucking cunt, which he laughed about and sent me a play station message about. Ended up being cool after that, but it's still annoying. I learned my lesson and laid out the entire footprint I wanted on the next base. Took about an hour to lay out the whole footprint, and about an hour later, two other people started walling me in. /shrug, had everything I wanted at that point.
