Well, correct me if I'm wrong... DOS I one of the main differences was that when DOS I originally launched, it wasn't voice acted. When the EE launched, it was.

I can't wait to see what the DE for DOS II will bring.
I think you're right, I barely played D:OS prior to EE but the EE notes suggest that the original game had little to no voice acting. I get the impression that the "definitive edition" of D:OS2 won't be quite so massive a rework as D:OS EE was, mainly because the second game simply doesn't need that much extra work. The main thing that stopped me from getting D:OS2 before now was that just about everyone said the last act was very disappointing/rushed. As long as they fix that I'll be happy. I almost waited for the console version, but then I remembered how godawful inventory management was in D:OS EE on PS4 and came to my senses. At least on PC I can play the game with a DS4 but grab my mouse when it's time to mess with inventory.

I don't think that the last act of DOSII was rushed. Act 3? Yah, maybe.
The last act doesn’t seem rushed in the sense that it feels incomplete, but I think it falls short of the bar set by the rest of the game.

Unfortunately, I can’t fault their logic for polishing the shit out of the first 15-20 hours and being more lax with everything after that. Steam achievements reveal very few people actually complete the game. In a perfect world we’d have a wholly awesome game, but those pesky bill collectors don’t take IOUs. Even if cash flow isn’t a problem, if you’re not careful you’ll be in production forever (see Duke Nukem).

Yah, but Steam reports that very few people have actually completed past the first few achievements in any game on their platform. I mean, in FO4, one of the most heavily played games, Steam reports back that barely half of the players have completed Unlikely Valentine.

That happens with every game. It's not just with DOS II.

Unless you’re suggesting that the reporting is inaccurate, that doesn’t change the fact that that there’s more value to polishing the beginning of a game than the end (because only a small minority of players actually reach that stage of the game).

I'm simply reporting that very few individuals actually reach beyond the first few achievements. I have no idea why, but yes.. I agree with you that the first impression of a game is the most important.

Divinity Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition adds HOW MUCH new content?

Act 3 is apparently nearly fully redone? The act is now 30+ hours.

Asked why fans of the original should replay the Definitive Edition, Larian said that there is more than 30 hours of new content in Act 3 alone.

"The entirety of Act 3 has changed quite dramatically, that's about 30+ hours of content," a Larian spokesperson explains.

"New story moments, particularly for Beast, as well as changes in the narrative arc and the installation of new fights.

"If you've played before, there are so many massive and minor changes that the game will feel fresh in places, and there are many surprises that'll have you going "huh, this is new!" - there are about 8 new fights.

"And our fights are meticulously crafted tactical challenges, not just sort-of mobs placed in the world-map like in some RPGs."

I can't wait for this.

Wow. We're on act 4, working to wrap it up before this drops so we can consider restarting, lol. I've got 80 hours in this game, mostly related to this current playthrough.

When is this coming? It's a free update, correct? I've put about 10 hours into the game, but haven't gone back to it in several months. I think I'll start over once this patch comes.

now if they could only revert the patch edit that made monsters avoid death fog. Can't wait for this and to see what changes, as I liked the god themed temples in A3 even if it was smaller than a2/a4/a1

It is a separate game, similar to when they released the Enhanced Edition of Divinity Original Sin. Overhaul is too large for a patch. If you have the PC version of Divinity 2 already, this will be added to your Steam library for free, but it is a "new" game that requires you to download it separately. Saves from the previous game are not compatible. (Going by how they did the first one, and fairly sure this will be the same)

Releases August 31st. Will be released for consoles that date as well.

This was a good time, we just finished our play through of it as a 4-player group.

Will be a bit before we give the revised edition a go, if ever. It'd be nice to play classes that use some of the nice weapons we never used (wands, staffs, 2h) and of course someone's already trying to call dibs on the squirrel lol.

I recently picked up the game and loved it, act 3 was definitely weird, seeing as you could basically do it in less than 5 minutes if you knew the lunar gate puzzle and had a lightning scroll that is freely given to you in act 1.

I really wish there were more custom campaigns in the community, the game systems are amazing and I love the co-op play.

I really want more of this game.

Definitive version comes out tomorrow. I am resolving to actually play it this time ><

Edit: The update says “getting ready to release this Thursday but goes on to say the 31st. Just odd wording on their part, it releases Friday, my bad.

Downloading now! 8.6gb patch

Apparently you open it with the same launcher, not a separate one like Original Sin 1. When you start it you get the option to start the definitive edition or standard edition since saves aren't compatible.

Played it until I gathered my party in the first island yesterday.

Differences:

2x warnings when starting Tactician. Not sure if they buffed that difficulty, but they certainly made sure you know you're starting with it.

The new tutorial is just basically an extra floor on the ship that showcases opening doors, moving boxes on switches and triggering poison with damage + an encounter with a persuasion check. Need 2 persuasion to not fail it. A guy in a cell asks to be let out. A magister guards him and persuasion check 1 makes him take him out of the cell himself which causes the prisoner to attack both. No story related thing in the normal floor. Telling the magister upstairs about it just caused them to laugh and not believe you. I'm guessing you can make the magister go upstairs if you manage both checks. Not sure what happens if you do that.

Inventory management screen is larger, but other than that, I don't think it's much has changed.

Also appears to be better optimized than before. My gfx card used to go to full overdrive when playing it (1080gtx), but now I don't notice any fans or anything different from having the game open or not. Some things look notcably better (fire). Things also trigger a lot faster. From putting a water barrel on fire, it takes around 1 second for it to burst, quell fire, create smoke.

Will keep playing and actually finish it fully this time. Will keep Beast as a companion since he is the one that supposedly got the largest update.

WTB a +20% basic movement speed mod though. Or a talent.
