Guess they'll stick with Tom going millionaire Jackass for the rest of the marketing. Eventually, they'll have to market one of the sequels down the line with 74-year old Tom Cruise getting killed doing a stunt, I think.

Yah HALO jumps are a huge pain in the ass lol. I stopped doing them because of the fucking hassle. They cool it up here with the C-17 and the fancy helmet. Sport jumpers just have these little plastic lines of O2 in the plane you sit and suck on on the way up. Also out of the smaller twin otter packed to the gills and not the giant ass C-17.

The biggest reason to not do them? It is motherfucking Coooooooooollllllllllllddddd at 20k feet. The extra 40 seconds of jump time is not worth it.

Just got back from seeing this and it was just average. I think it was about 30 minutes too long. Also it's very predictable because they keep using the same tricks from past mission impossible movies. Pretty good action but I think you can wait for blue ray.

9/10, saw it in dolby in a packed theater and it was fantastic. This summer almost recalibrated my "action movie" meter due to shitty Rampage, Skyscraper, Oceans 8, and Jurassic World 2 but Tom fucking Cruise came in at the end and showed everyone how its fucking done. The Rock should fire his manager for letting him put out such shitty action scenes. I honestly was getting to the point of "... well, I guess Skyscraper is our new action movie baseline" but the cruise missile flew in and blew that paradigm the fuck up.

I would highly recommend rewatching at least MI 3 - 5 before you go into this, while there isn't anything you would miss there are a lot of nice little nods to story beats and characters from previous movies that won't mean much if you haven't rewatched recently. Fantastic job by the writer(s) in putting enough in to connect for fans but not so much as to overwhelm new viewers. Deadpool 2 by contrast I think failed hard in that regards, it really wasn't that well connected at all with the first one and suffered for it. James Bond Spectre is another movie I'd compare this to, Bond failed miserably at creating a story that weaved together its own history in a way that was interesting yet open to new viewers whereas Fallout succeeds in every way.

Two absolutely FANTASTIC action scenes in this movie, one in Paris and one in the mountains and both are so gorgeous they will make you weep. Scientology doesn't fuck around when it comes to spending money to make things look good.

Phenomenal in Dolby, gonna go back next week and rewatch in IMAX. The movie does feel a tad bit long, clocking in at 2h 28m but honestly I'm not sure what could be cut and not butcher the movie. There were only 1 or 2 short 30 second moments where I felt it dragged on maybe a little too much.

Cast works great, everyone is beautiful but functional and you never get the feeling of "why the fuck is this character here". The bad guy was great. My second favorite movie of 2018 just a step or two behind Avengers: Infinity War. Story might be a little tighter and maybe there were 1-2 characters who weren't quite exactly right but minor quibbles.

I saw it last night and loved it. I own the movies so had recently rewatched 3-5 . There is lots of backstory there that wouls be good to have but is not required.

Go watch it. The wide shots of the mountains in Norway were amazing. This is the kind of movie you want for a summer blockbuster.

This was thoroughly enjoyable and a great summer action film. 8.5/10 and full of non stop action.

I've only ever seen the 1st MI once way back when it first came out, so had no backstory for this one really. Was a very good action flick, it didn't seem to rely on any serious backstory to be enjoyable for me, a lot of the scenery and cinematography was awesome to watch. Gotta give Cruise props for all the stunts he does. Wasn't interested in seeing it, and kind of got dragged along, but I enjoyed the shit out of it and definitely do not regret going.

You really should watch MI: Rogue Nation. It's my favorite in the series, haven't seen fallout yet.

I just got home from seeing this. All I can really say is wow. What an incredible ride. So much action. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Tom Cruise continues to dominate. And that newish (well, new as of last movie) chick isn't half bad either. They'll make a good couple because they're both super secret spy types.

The entire chase sequence with the motorcycle was incredible. And hell, then the helicopter... holy shit. I thought that the helicopter fight in Specter was done quite well. It was definately "edge of your seat". This trumped it and then some. There was so much cool stuff happening in this movie. I'm really happy for having seen it.

Ok, there are some minor issues that I was nit-picking early on. IE - The Asian dude that gets shot in the head doesn't somehow alert the big bad that Ethan & Co. are on the scene. But then we learn the identity of the big bad, and it made a little more sense.

Loved the little nod to both the French Connection and then Ronin during the Paris chase.

The Paris chase was pretty damn good, didn't catch those nods but in thinking back I can totally see the influences now. I was mostly impressed by the lack of dramatic music during most of the action sequences, especially the bathroom, the paris chase and the helicopter scenes.

Question for people who have seen the movie. I used the restroom when:
The new assassin guy & the black head of CIA were having a meeting out on a runway (I think it was a runway). This was right around the 50% point on the movie. I went to the bathroom a little into their talk, and I got back right when it was ending. So I would estimate 2-3 minutes of screen time total.

What was said during this meeting? This is not the one where the black chick comes in and says that you're using my plane so you have to use my guy also.

they talked about
Superman basically said Tom Cruise was John Lark, they recovered the phone from the "fake" Lark (asian guy) and there would probably be evidence showing it was Tom. How Tom had been disavowed and fucked over by IMF so many times, why it made sense he went rogue, etc. Basically Superman framed Tom and the CIA boss (Bassett) is at first very skeptical but at the end of the scene you can see how she buys it.

The nice twist near the end is that Cruise figures out thats the only way he got framed, and the only person who could have talked to Bassett about Tom being Lark is Superman, ergo it must be Superman who is John Lark in fact.

Also thought it was funny he was named John Lark, thought it might be a play on John Locke the philosopher but also a callback to Lost.

Saw this today, had a good time watching it. It's a good movie to see in a theater. It's got 93% on rotten tomatoes and that's probably a bit high. More like 8/10. You get a bit more than you would expect from a MI movie.
