I just wanted to share a different perspective with people who follow Pantheon. Many of you think that this is Brad McQuaid's MMO. It is not. Brad is essentially a figurehead and a mascot. Brad is along for the ride and of course the salary. This MMO is the brainchild of Chris Perkins. Who is Chris Perkins you ask? That's a very good question. He's someone with no bankable experience in the video game industry who has been put in charge of Pantheon's creative direction. Watch the interviews and Twitch streams and you'll see that Perkins does most of the talking.

Back when VR lost all of the real MMO experienced devs who left in disgust after Brad pocketed the Kickstarter money, the company was in crisis and barely clinging to life. So Brad started looking for volunteers. Now Chris Perkins may be a MMO genius but how many studios would hire a creative director for a MMO with no industry experience? Nobody in their right mind would do that. So ask yourself, why VR is having trouble getting funding? Their team is exceedingly light on credibility and experience. Combine that facet with Brad's missteps over the years and you have the current situation.

The MMO genre is dying and after numerous failures, it has lost its luster. Investors are not going to throw away precious funds to inexperienced studios with no track record. I hope Pantheon succeeds but the odds are stacked against VR.

Isn't this the same perspective we've had for the last 2000 pages?

This is Brad's MMO and vision. Chris may be the current face of the project, but in the end this is all Brad.

I thought Chris Perkins was the D&D dude?

Not the same Chris Perkins. I would love to see what kind of MMO that guy would make tho. A new MMO built from tabletop RPG foundations instead of the last 15 years of WoW derivative shit might be interesting.

Well, if this actually does come out, I won't be stupid and pick a conjuror type over enchanter. In both EQs they were pretty gimp compared to having a sweet, hasted charm pet in your group. Not to mention mana regen, haste, crowd control etc.

Even in EQ2 they do less dps than a support class (necro is literally 6x them on raids with lifeburn) and their epic weapon pet doesn't even work on the time locked servers.

So when I'm old, and in a nursing home and this finally comes out, I'll be enchanter all the way!

My main complaint with this game and all the other kickstarter mmos (and Star Citizen) is that they are still a long ways from release and they've been in development for years already. I'm just not the same person who pledged back then. Don't have the patience for a lot of the stuff I enjoyed years ago, and not getting any younger.

I imagine Brad sitting in his La-Z-Boy chair stoned out of his mind on percocets remembering the good old days when he was successful enough of an MMO visionary that he could fire people in parking lots. Chris Perkins calls him on the phone, "BRAD! BRAD! WAKE UP! We have a pre-alpha stream we gotta promote!". Brad wipes the drool from his mouth with his Everquest cloth map, hobbles over to his office computer and logs into this pile of shit that will never release.
