I'm going to tell myself that the Disney board is simply going to be too busy with the (faaaaaaaar more expensive) Fox merger to worry about Star Wars in the short term.
So they let KK manage the film projects she's already started (Will even the GOT movie be out in this time frame? Will they even start production?), leave her to oversee the TV projects she's likely illsuited for, and reevaluate once the Fox merger is over.

They could have renewed her contract for political reasons but cancelled her movies, so she has very little to oversee.

Fett and Kenobi are cancelled right? The two new trilogies are rumoured to be cancelled (Rian Johnson's) or may take longer than her contract to do preproduction on (GoT writers)?

I'm all for them ghosting her, yeah here's your 3 year deal.... oh what are you working on? We don't have anything in the pipes right now, enjoy your office, and please don't come out... for any reason. Or do what they should have done in the first place, and let her work on a side project film, following an inconsequential female lead, in a part of the Galaxy nowhere near anything else, set so far in the past/future it will never matter, so they can get their SJW merit badge, and stop fucking with the core of the IP/audience. I mean I don't mind them having these kinds of stories, and I'm actually positive they could make the Force female, without shitting in everyone else's mouth in the process. That honestly is the big reason all this crap pisses me off so much, really very little to do with the political aspects, beyond the fact that they make the shit show of a job they did with 8 stand out so much worse, and the internet won't shut up about or stop highlighting it because the most offended people on the planet, found a reason to be offended again.

Furthermore I have to agree with the general consensus that Star Wars won't be getting any more of my money for some time, and that's honestly even if the next film comes out lauded as the second coming. They've left a bad taste in my mouth, and I have plenty of Star Wars in existence that doesn't suck along with more IP's doing far better shit, than I can keep up with anyway. So I'll nerd out somewhere else for awhile, until I see the franchise start consistently making good stuff again. I want to give them my money, they just can't stop trying to force a shit covered dick in my mouth, long enough to course correct and let me put my credit card on autopay.

It flips back and forth but right now I have Fett as being on CANCELLED (no writers working on it any more), and Kenobi on HOLD.

Rian is a GO for his first movie in his trilogy as far as development goes. He has Lucas Film behind him for the development of this movie (recent update). Disney hasn't reached any agreement for 3 Rian movies though, he has a development deal for ONE movie at the moment according to the leaks.

I think they want Rian to prove he can make a successful movie and also to "debunk" the hatewagon narrative before agreeing to the entire trilogy.

I like how the response to Kennedy being in control of Star Wars for at least three more years is to larp EVEN HARDER about how this actually means she's gone.

In big companies (I know mine does this), to avoid a potential law suit it’s just easier to pay someone and remove all their power and let them collect the salary quietly in the corner. It costs almost nothing compared to having to fight it out in court or bad PR.

The "academic" paper in that article is called "Weaponizing The Haters: The Last Jedi and the strategic politicization of pop culture through social media manipulation". Apparently even academic papers have to be clickbait bullshit now. All of his data also comes from people who tweeted Rian Johnson. So if you didn't tweet the director and let him know you hated the film, you don't count. Sounds like great data to me.

I think the Solo box office results speak for themselves. There's some data they might want to actually consider.

but her contract would have just run out and there would be no bad PR or a lawsuit if it wasnt renewed. Disney just doubled down on this woman. her neo feminism is obviously where Disney wants this franchise to go, they literally are blaming the audience now for not liking their bad movies.

Why does no one consider that the supervisors and workers for the Russian bot farms all legitimately hated TLJ too. Is the narrative going to evolve to the point that all Russians HAD to love the movie and anything different is propaganda?
