I am a diehard PC gamer and have been since the early 90's, and the PS4 exclusive lineups were enough to break me away from that and get back into consoles. They're just that good. It kills me to have to play below 60 dps and with a controller, but still worth it.

This felt like 20 fps with severe motion blur and looked blurry to all hell. It was making me motion sick (I don't get sick at all normally) so I don't know what was going on as the Ps3 gameplays I'm looking at on youtube look nothing like I was seeing

HDR alone was worth it to me. If you don't want to go all out on a OLED/QLED you can still get a 4K TCL with Dolby Vision for 600 (55R615) to less than 1k (65R615) and it has about the lowest lag you can find on a TV for gaming. I have one of the 55's, and for the money it's unbeatable. I wouldn't buy it from Amazon though. They got a few bad batches and people have been having problems with color banding and DSE. Mine came from Best Buy and was pretty much perfect (very very minor DSE when the screen is almost entirely white).

HDR alone is amazing but you will definitely notice the difference when playing games that support 4k as well. I could never go back now.
HDR and 4k compared to my old 1080p samsung.... I am not sure how I ever played on that old TV now. (But I also went big and went to OLED)

I purchased a PS4 Pro Spider Man Edition when it came out last month and had console hard freezes and locks from day 1. It was weird because the image on the screen would be locked, but if I was in party voice chat I could still talk and hear. Sometimes holding the power button down wouldn't even work and it would have to be unplugged.
Aftering with customer service over 2 days and trying everything including 2 full initializations I had to send it in for service. Almost a month later and they just shipped it back. I'm kind of concerned because they left me a voicemail stating they couldn't find anything wrong and were going to ship it back if they didn't hear from me in 24 hours. I left like 4 messages and chatted with online support, but never heard back from the repair guy. And a few days later they generated the shipping label (but took 5 days to drop at FedEx). I'm really hoping they actually fixed it.
I would have just returned the console, but pros are sold out everywhere, and they could only return and not exchange at Best Buy. It is really frustrating, and the support agents all say they aren't allowed to give any compensation. I've been reading a lot of reviews now from people with PS4 Pro hardware issues out of the box.

You couldn't have just exchanged it with whatever retailer you bought it from? Couldn't have had it very long if it was the Spiderman edition. Or did they have no more Spiderman ones?
Did you buy it with a credit card? Chargeback might be an option if they're going to fuck you with a defective piece of hardware. (Don't do this if you have it tied to an already established PS account) I'd double check for HDCP issues first as faulty connections can trigger issues with it and cause blackouts and other various problems. If you have a Nvidia video card, you could always use the same TV & cable connected to it to check that it's all supported in the control panel.

The console was preorder only and they were sold out everywhere, so no exchanges. Around here you can't even find a regular pro within 250+ miles, and it has been that way for months. These special editions typically can be flipped on eBay for $600+, so a lot of people preorder for that. I should have just ordered two..

I'm pretty sure it is a GPU issue, and it does sound like they have had a number of bad batches of components with the PRO units. If it doesn't work when I get it back I'm not sure what I will do. Sending it back and waiting another month doesn't seem acceptable to me. It was purchased at Best Buy so I may push the issue with them via return or chargeback. I didn't even open the Spider Man game or use any codes yet, but it will be past the 30 day mark by a bit because Sony has been so slow. I've kept all my chat logs with complaints about the repair tech not returning calls.

yeah sounds like you may have just gotten a dud, never heard a ps4 do that kinda thing. sucks. the reason PS4 Pro's are out of stock everywhere is that they ramped up the RDR 2 bundle production up over the summer, they will be flooding the market for the holidays but it made a huge shortage as they didn't make any regular PS4 Pro's for a few months now. For the future, never send in a console for service in the first 30 days, just return it if it seems funny even if you can't get a replacement. Better to get a different and new model than deal with bullshit.
one thing tho for tarrant, the new RDR 2 PS4 Pro bundle is a new model of the system that is 30-50% quieter than all previous PS4 Pros (those guys who test every game/system wrote it up a few weeks ago). Its a newer model than the 500th million or the spider man PS4 Pro. So I'd still choose that for $399 over a $275 used PS4 Pro, especially since the $399 one is new w/ 1 year warranty, comes with RDR2 ($60), and is a newer model.
