How many players on this and when I'm reading the server comparison wiki page, it says permanent +20% exp bonus and this here
In the Ykesha era, 7 months after PoP's launch, the group exp bonuses were increased significantly. AK had a bugged implementation of this bonus which roughly doubled it for groups with 4-6 members.

So on this server you gain exp a lot faster in a full group than you do on P1999 and than you did back during the original EQ?

Yes - it's like it was on the "real" Al'Kabor. So, +20% overall bonus + a group XP bonus higher than live - maxes at 5 toons in group (so no extra bonus for the 6th toon), but if one XP's with 4 toons in group, each kill gets more XP per person than in a 3 person group. It's one of the reasons that folks decided that multi-boxing should be capped at 3.

Exp on TAKP is considerably faster:

* Al'Kabor had a 20% server bonus. (and so does TAKP)
* Sony put in the Ykesha era group bonus on AK not long after they launched it. (+20% for each member after the first) However they screwed it up and gave too much for groups of 4-6, and so Al'Kabor/TAKP had/has a very large group bonus for 4-6 members. Basically if you have a group of 4+ you're gonna be making about 2.6x the exp you would have in 2002.
* The high level exp bonus is active on TAKP, which was introduced on Live several weeks before PoP. This awards significantly more experience for mid 50s and higher kills (particularly if they are above your level) and is largely why PoP zones are such great exp and makes killing higher level NPCs as viable (or more so) than mass killing low dark blues.
* The PoP zones (when they launch) will have the pre-nerf ZEMs that were nerfed on Live when they put in the Ykesha group bonus.

Other stuff that speeds leveling:

* TAKP also has Mass Group Buffs hitting people of all levels, so newbies and soloers have KEI and other buffs a lot of the time.
* Charm is pre-nerf, so you get full exp from charm. (not dire charm)
* PBAoE is not target capped like some emus. Pull 100 mobs at a time if you like.

TAKP is a different leveling experience than P99. You'll hit level cap quickly, so if you want to savor the leveling game, p99 might be a better option. Since people level fast, it's hard to find groups at lower levels. We do offer a highly accurate environment and gameplay with our older client though.

If you guys stick around and want some gear just ask. I don't play much anymore but don't mind logging on to help out a forumbro. Don't think I have much plat in the bank right now but I can kite giants for an hour and scrounge up some for yas.

to be honest the server has just sooo few people on it, and a "who all 1" just says Bazaar and is cut short, so a solid number of players of those 200-ish that are logged in aren't even playing. I'd really love to play on this server, but there is just no one around to play with for the first 50 hours...

is it possible to get windowed mode and dual boxing on the Mac OS client? Thinking about starting a dru/enc on this server....I really enjoy this era better than P99, even if the population is lower. I'd mostly be playing on my MacBook though so I'd need windowed mode/two clients to work on here (I downloaded the Mac client and it launches fine, but there's no windowed mode)

There is window mode and it works fine. Just have one desktop for each EQ instance, switch between them with keyboard shortcuts or trackpad gestures.

Ok, I'll take a look tonight....I was thrown off by the 'old' titanium client (way less options/UI compared to P99's titanium client)...it definitely brought back some memories. Anyone have like 100pp for a newbie's spells? :p

at what time do you usually play? i've got alts spread out across every level range pretty much, alts that i've neglected for the same reason you're hesitant to start -- there's not many people to level with.

but i'd definitely be willing to set some times to play and help you (or anyone else reading this) get started.

i took my mains down to the bugs camp in Sebilis specifically to scrounge up some cash for forum bros. look for me online, mains are Madriax, Pharmakos, and Dread.

id say 150 is avg on weekday 200 avg on weekend... yea probably about 30-50 of those are traders.

you dont find many low levels because people box, have mgb's, go to high zem zones (which play well with takp exp mechanics.)

really its exactly like AK, there were barely any lower levels there and it didnt stop it from being an incredibly fun time.

you have to go to the popular zones which are close to pok so you can benefit from buffs and the occasional casual logging in

cb/kurns/PC/guktop/ for your 5-23ish

hhk(though far but popular)/unrest/sola for your 23ish-40ish

once your 40 you should be in a guild and you will get some help that way

if anyone really has their heart set on this server, i recommend guilding up ASAP, not just at 40+. i'm a recruiting officer for <Azure Guard> (legit descended from the OG Veeshan guild!), and find a lot of people hesitant to join because most of us are level 60. we welcome all levels, tho, and when we have a fledgling member join us the alts start coming out of the woodwork. i'm not even level 60 yet on my main (i get too distracted haha), but i regularly see new recruits blow past me and get 60 in a few weeks time.

we are in an alliance with <Nephilim> (at this point basically one guild but two tags, our co-op chat channel gets used more than /gu), and they're also friendly to newbies.

the guild <Black Sheep> is i believe the newest guild, and so has slightly more up and coming players, but are a bit less established for raiding. i think they're getting more done with raids lately tho.

<Destiny> is great, i believe Lenas Lenas is an officer for them. they've got a lot of players that came over from EQMac after the sunset, but also have a lot of people that are fresh starts on TAKP.

<Temerity> gets the most done with raiding, i think, but i don't know much about them. they're more of a tight knit group of mostly old timer EQMac players i believe.

and uh, wow, i think that's all of the guilds on the server? i only see one person on from <The Horde> right now, not sure what happened to them.

if you're on tonight and want some plat and don't mind running to The Bazaar, shoot me a PM on here. i'll see the notification on my phone and pull up my trader box. let me know your in game name too, of course.

if you don't already know, on this server you reach The Bazaar by running through The Nexus, via the Nexus stone in PoK. Nexus stone is in the eastern section of PoK, north end, and you take a right in Nexus to get to The Bazaar. :)

Picked this up as its about time for my winter EQ hibernation period. It never ceases to amaze me how EQ was so successful given how godawful the first 5-10 levels are. Looking forward to putzing around for a few weeks at least. BL/MAG/DRU seems like it will be a good time
