I bet the boost money is super minor in the grand scheme of things. Free money for them not withstanding. Did they announce wtf the newgame+ thing FF14 is doing? I wouldn't be shocked if someone else has a way better way to attack it. In my sweet wow armchair designer mode- to solve leveling up with friends, you'd just find an npc and opt into a semi permanent timewalk banded into the closest level range of your buddies. Prolly makes too much sense tho.

The FFXIV new game+ is for the main quest (which guides you through the story). FFXIV always kept the old dungeons/raids relevant and available, because it had to: The MSQ is directly tied to instances, so to keep queue times low for new players high level players can join in and get a daily reward for helping them in old content.
WoW could do the same thing today, as the scaling tech already exists and the frequent timewalking events already show that it works. It's just that Blizzard is fucking scared that players would choose to do mainly older content, because in WoW content scales to your level, while in FFXIV you are scaled to the level of the content. This would give players access to somewhat relevant gear with different itemization, like rings with main stats and trinkets.
Both approaches have their problems: In FFXIV you lose access to abilities if scaled below their level, and in WoW scaling of older content seems to work solely on your item level in comparison to the item level target for that level, much like PvP templates work. Also, those templates seem to be for each spec, as healers do crazy damage in the 15-25 range.

Sure but does it really make up for how many people they have lost? I mean a steady stream of $15 a month * millions of subs adds up higher I would bet.

I have 3x370/375/375 Azerite, and I only raided maybe two weeks, and done the Warfront twice. Lucked out on forging world quest rewards... Mostly ideal traits. Outside the raid versions anyway.
Still, 3 months of AP/gold from world bosses. Yay.

My two tanks are in full 385 azerite. It's my two dps alts that are sitting on low level pieces. I dont raid either aside from the casual 2 or 3 boss pugs when I have time. So I basically either need to get a piece out of my cache or get a 370 from the emissary. All my gearing is m+ since I have a nice dedicated group sitting in the 1500 to 1900 io range. Only good part of this xpac for me at this point.

Yup and I was joking with my buddies that by the time my dps toons could pull 370 pieces they wouldn't show up. Guess it wasn't really a joke.

You still might not be able to pull 370 pieces. My DH was wearing a 370 and two 360 pcs and was ilvl 365 and was still getting 355's. I had to get my overall ilvl to 370 before I saw any 370's and by then they weren't worth that much to me. A buddy of mine was wearing 340 Azerites and was overall 358 on the first day the horde got it and he got a 370. Shit is fucked.
