If amd can hit around the range of 4.5-5.0 ghz with their new chips and if they can keep prices as they are now, this should be AMD time to shine for a while. Best thing to happen to industry in a while. Intel was stagnating for YEARS with their shit, only now within the past 2 or so years they have been upping their game when AMD was getting close. We literally had like what, 6-7 generations of the same shit plus 10%?

if Intel didn't stumble upon using the laptop chip for desktop, AMD woulda been running the CPU joint

Just finished some testing the new driver, using the NVIDIA pendulum Demo, and also SoTTR Trial Benchmark Demo (I don't own the game). FYI, my current monitor is the LG Ultra-wide 34UM69G (DP1.2, 75Hz refresh, Freesync range 40 to 75Hz), and is NOT on the "validated" list of G-Sync Compatible monitors.

In the NV Pendulum demo, you can run 60, 50 and 40 FPS tests, or pick a number using the sliders. Ran smoothly with no evidence of tearing, stuttering, or flickering that I could see.

In the SoTTR Benchmark, I manually cranked every setting up to max, to ensure that the test was constantly dipping below 75FPS (default refresh). It went as low as the high 50s a couple of times, and mostly was fluctuating all over the 60s and 70s.

I ran the benchmark multiple times, and all I have to say is HOLY SHIT. Absolutely as smooth as silk, without the slightest hint of a glitch or pause the entire time.

I can't believe just how good that was. It looked flawless, and I can finally see what all the fuss is about with VRR. Thank you NVidia, and also fuck you for taking so bloody long!
Nice!! This is good news for everyone, and I'm glad that even your monitor not on their approved list works so well.

Bigger problem was Intel started spending billions on paying Dell/HP to simply not stock AMD hardware back around 2006-2007. Pretty much killed any momentum AMD had with their A64 line.

Intel really should have been fucked in the ass by the feds.

N.Y. lawsuit details Intel's 'largesse' toward Dell

Suit: Intel paid Dell up to $1 billion a year not to use AMD chips

It's an AIO. The processor cooler is siting on what looks like a bracket, to hold it in place. Basically I don't want to have to remove everything. Just unscrew the cooler. Remove the radiator and fans. Plop down a new cooler...install the radiator and fans again.
Should just slide right in. I would definitely measure everything though to make sure the new cooler fits.

Still have my Logitech x 540 speakers. They stopped working so I disconnected them and put them aside. Tried them again a few weeks ago and they all worked. I had a feeling once I set them back up again how I wanted them they'd stop and that's what happened. I had this problem with them before. Only thing is theyre set up now how theyre supposed to be set up. Theyre over 10 years old but still work well when they work. Anyone know how to fix this issue with surround sound speakers

My new AIO water cooling came in. Took me like two hours to install because of the cable runs. This shit is QUIET as fuck. The ICUE software is pretty damn cool. I snagged a command module to control everything lighting that should be here tomorrow.

Looking to use a "we build your computer that you customize" site. What site do people recommend or have found that have some good deals?

I’ve been outta the build game for awhile, I assume I still wanna go intel and nvidia?

It's more a budgetary question. Intel/Nvidia is more money. If you want value for your dollar, AMD. Check out benchmarks for the games you will be playing.

Aren't there still ways to get the free Windows10 upgrade? Might be able to save the money.

At work we have some Win 7 Pro boxes that I did a fresh install on. Right after reinstalling, I input the Win 7 key to activate it and ran the Windows Update Tool on the PC. Voila. Win 10 Pro activates without an issue. Even tested a straight reinstall of Win 10 after that and it’s good to go.
