whats the /per pound rice you get?
Depends what is on sale, usually look for whatever is in the .35 per pound range. Though lately that has been harder and harder to find, the middle eastern markets are good for this too.
Places like Phoenicia Specialty Foods | this one Westheimer Market « Phoenicia Specialty Foods has a freaking conveyor belt of fresh bread...so good.

it might've been a busy time, and snow might've done in some employee's but keep going to Aldi b/c

1. even if you had one cashier, they are fast as shit
2. you lucky your Aldi even has a deli!!!, the two Aldi's by me are deli-less
3. like i said about the groceries, just cave man your cart into your trunk

i mean you have kids, so i'm sure you have one of these
c700x420.jpg

fuck, just take the whole damn thing w/ you when you shop and put it in the cart, it's got two handles!

also try the Aldi's chips, they're called "Clancys", i posted in the fast food thread, theyre the best bbq chips ever.

The snacks aren't junk, for comparison purposes i bought the Aldi's cookies and fake oreos, and i went to the dollar store and bout the shit. Holy fuck, the Aldis tasted like chips ahoy and the dollar store stuff was cardboard.
I'm too scared to ask Brahma this, so i'll ask you. Do you like crackers? the Aldi crackers might be the best damned things in the world. they have a full assortment of them too. their cheap ones are 79 cents for a big box and then they have their god tier crackers which i think are 1.79 for a single stack. i buy them for chili and whether its the cheap or the expensive ones they all rock. i also like to spread butter or cheese on them too. they also sell Babibel cheese and Kerrygold Irish butter there, but for Aldi prices.

Eating on a budget if you have a TJ's around you is pretty easy. Plus, every now and then they unveil something so sinister, so sneaky delicious that it makes you wonder why the fuck you'd never heard of it before.

I present to you, Pancake Bread. It tastes like a maple syrup pancake and coffee cake had a baby and gave you this devious little calorie bomb. Wife and I have eaten 4 loafs this week and the store is now sold out. QQ.

Meat, Cheese, Fruit and Vegetables - Wegmans.

Everything else - Aldis

Ive never had one items from Aldis that was poor quality. Hell the meat isnt bad especiallty at its price, I just prefer to get the best quality.

Ground beef at aldis? A Notch below wegmans at half the cost.

the premium box are like 3 times more expensive and they arent in the same league as the god tier Aldi crackers, i usually would say, crackers are crackers, but these are the exception.

But you can get Kimchi.

New and more modern Korean Markets are indistinguishable from regular corporate supermarkets. However, regardless of where you choose to go, Chinese markets never fail to smell like sour puss of dried up sea. Yet, they have the best and the greatest deals on meat, chicken, fish, food, bread, and other exotic items. Regular items from western markets are not that cheap there.

But you can get Kimchi.

This is better than most store bought stuff (unless its a korean market making their own brand on site).

Kimchee Marinade 40oz. (1,134g)

kimuchi.jpg

Dont follow the instructions, cut up 2-3 C what ever green vegetables, then pour 3-5 oz. over, stir til evenly coated, covered container in fridge for 48 hrs. I was surprised how legit the end product is and I have been eating Kim Chi daily for 45 yrs.

I have 3 batches in my fridge atm, cucumber, choy sum, and head cabbage.

This fuckin thread changed my life!!

There is an Aldi's off to the side at the local mall near me, that I have avoided like the plague because of the clientele I see going in there. We had our 1st snow here in Boston, so everyone's hitting Market Basket, S&S etc Friday evening. I couldn't find a parking spot that wasn't two miles away it seemed...Aldi's was empty in the parking lot so I said fuckit. I'll mingle with the common folk.

This place rocks!!! Cheap as fuck. I really don't care if something is off brand except cereal. I even laughed at the names as I was like throwing it in the cart.

I usually spend about 75 bucks a whack at Market Basket 3x a week. (Another twenty five at Whole Foods once a week). I spent 30 bucks for comparable groceries at Aldi's. Myself nor the kids could tell the difference with the few things we tried.

The deli was a little lacking. (No deli counter) I hate bagging my groceries, and there was ONE...ONE register open. My 3 gripes. All forgiven with that sort of savings though. I may even stop my Whole Foods trek across four towns!

I did go to Whole Foods though. I just couldn't take a chance on the chicken salad I like just yet. Got the kids some Aldi's chicken salad. Stuffed the WF's chicken salad in the back of the fridge :).

Time to grab some reusable bags. Brahma's got a brand new spot.
I go to MB all the time, I like that they have some decent high end stuff as well as no bs sales like stop and shop. I worked in food manufacturing before and we won zero stop and shop bids because even though they up charge the customer a ton they will never pay for quality and just want the cheapest garbage they can get. I am scared enough of the Waltham MB clientele, can't imagine aldis. I did go to price right in lynn a bit and it was decent but no deli and no butcher and no seafood kinda limits you. Will say price rite is owned by shoprite and shoprite was always concerned with quality when I dealt with them.

Every time I smoke a brisket or pork butt I cube up the left overs and freeze it and toss the meat into crock pots of black beans or cook it into my omelette.

This is a good point, I think I read something insane like 30 percent of food is just junked. I think unless you are super poor the biggest wastes are not using your left overs smartly like that and also going too cheap and making garbage food. I remember as a kid my mom would buy like the cheapest meats, never season them cause spices were expensive and then it all tasted awful. Then we would just go out to eat and spend 5x as much, it was so dumb and why I don't mind spending for decent ingredients now.
