Hmm, sad. Guess I'm a Jew, according to you because I don't to pay more than I have to for cars? Not sure I understand your angst against educated buyers who don't want to be taken advantage of.

OK, fair enough. Then why do dealers sell at or below invoice? They could choose to say no, but they don't. The last 5 cars I've purchased in the past 4 years have been under invoice except for the Hellcat, which I didn't want to wait for or haggle on. They could have said "nope, this is the lowest we'll go".

There are manufacturers who will encourage their dealerships to sell below invoice. For instance, if they are short of 10 cars quota for the month and they have a week left, they are going to give out cars. They are going to make $50,000 or more if they hit the target. So if they lose $5k on 10 cars but they make $50,000 or more, they are actually ahead in the end.

No, sorry. I do my own research. That's kind of the point of this discussion; someone asked for advice and we gave it. In my case, based on 20+ years of racing and collecting cars as a hobby. That starts with purchasing.

Traded my 2013 cts for a 2015 f150 ecoboost with 5 miles on it for a hell of a deal. I just told them my exact number for x amount of months. They wouldn't play ball so I got up and was respectful when the finance manager was dicking me around shook the sales guy hand got to the door and they matched my terms. I always go end of month.

Ill be going in this weekend to trade in a 2011 optima for a pickup. just gonna tell them what I want to pay per month (lower than I'd actually be willing to pay) and walk if they don't play ball.

More on my Highlander vs Pilot adventure

I like how the Pilot base model comes with all the bells and whistles that the mid-level Highlander has. Stuff like heated seats, remote start, key fob, are all on the base Pilot, where the Highlander you have to pay for the next step up.

I'm holding that against the Toyota salesperson right now. See if they can deal me the mid-level Highlander.

Fuck with them long enough and they'll cave, keep in mind that shit goes both ways though. Don't be blinded by your desire for something new.

Others have posted good tips as well, you have to let them know you are serious. Why I'll go in and test drive, give and offer and leave. That way I don't get sucked in (Which is exactly what they want).

Also listen to them talk to you, they will usually give something away that let's you know you can take full advantage of them. Like when I bought my GTi the salesman straight up told me they hadn't been able to sell the car for 10 months. I lowballed the fuck out of them and got the car after a few weeks of email haggling.

Plus, fucking with them anonymously over the internet is much easier than in person. Look how bad you guys fuck people up in the General area of this forum, just use the same tactics to get the resluts you want. However, sending them dildos and buttplugs probably won't help.

Don't like your job? quit. The manufacturers should be making all of the profit the ridiculous dealers take and making cars better. You guys add nothing to the industry.

Salesman: Ok, we'll do payments at 200 a month for 12 years.
Moogalak: Sold!

Glad you brought that up. They try to lower the monthly payments and increase the months. "Oh it's just two packs of beer a month". If you're firm when you go and don't back down they will cave. They will go to the finance manager a couple times then finally say that's the best he can do. If you researched and found several others got the price your gunning for don't settle just leave. If your trading in and ask you for money down..... If you're credit is good tell them no. When they saw the beacon credit score and that I mentioned if they don't play ball I'll go see my pool league buddy and get the GMC canyon. But if prefer the Ford, they pick up on that if you actually drop a finance mangers name. Their like branch mangers at banks.... They bounce around in their respective business and everyone knows their name.

I can't think of one. At least in a lawyers case, you can represent yourself in court if you really want to.
