I ADORE the Doctor, amd am a complete and unabashed Whovian. When the Xmas special airs, I shall be here dissecting and praising it like the total screaming fangirl I am .

I feel like Matt Smith & RTD ruined so many good Who villains for the audience. Angels imo were ruined. Used entirely too much. And the Daleks. We've seen them what, twice per season with Smith/RTD? They used to be such a feared race. Remember The Stolen Earth when the second they heard the "EXTERMINATE" the Tennant, Torchwood, and Unit all trembled in fear? Now they are just a joke. And River too. Fuck I would rape Alex Kingston's anus so hard, but she was so much better when she only appeared once or twice to drop a random Doctor & River history nugget.

Stop going Hollywood on us and reusing old content. It's called the CREATIVE process for a reason. Get creative!

I think you mean Stephen Moffat there - Russel Davies retired with Tenant.

I think most people would agree that he's a much better writer than he is a showrunner.

Moffat agreed that the Daleks have become a running joke and overused, that is why the tone changed with Asylum. He is rebooting the Daleks. They will be used less frequently and be more of a menacing villan lurking in the background and only coming out very little. Angels have run their course until another blink type episode comes.

Anyone wondering when Jenny will make an appearance. Moffat bitched to RTD to keep her alive because he wanted to explore the character. Technically 3 seasons since and no sign/mention of her.

Yes. My apologies, meant Moffatt. Was watching a Whovian Docu while I was typing that post.

I definitely want to know what became of Jenny. Ten took her creation quite seriously, and when he told Donna that he had already done the family/fatherhood thing, it felt (to me anyway) that it was confessed with regret. I can't imagine that Doctor just happily marrying River.

And speaking of River; to refresh my memory I have been rewatching the Matt Smith years, and even though I was heartbroken to see Amy & Rory go, I felt cheated by the build up only to have that trauma and them just be happily safe somewhere else. I wanted Moffatt to have the balls to kill them, like they did way back when the killed Adric.

Anyway, I am kind of getting tired of the whole "create a paradox and destroy all of time and space" thing that happens in evey single season with 11. I'm no longer scared or concerned for any of the characters, and I feel like it is becoming more geared for the children who have to have everything back to normal at the end of an episode. That makes me sad.

What happened to Jenny is she married David Tennant. That's probably why she hasn't come back ;P

yeah my dad bailed on who because its become too goofy and for kids. last year they had like a boogyman in the closet kiddie episode, a baby vs cyberman episode and then a witch and the wardrobe kids episode. all were pretty facepalmy. they need to say fuck you to BBC America and go darker. not saying they need to go too dark. just keep more in line with ecclestone and tennant's adventures. the way things are going, this doctor will probably never die otherwise. im getting a bit tired of him . time for a new guy.

Any old school/hardcore Dr. Who fans want to confirm this.. I was reading a wiki site about the Doctor that said he has exactly 13 regeneration's before he can't do it again?

If so, seems like a corner they will have to write themselves out of if the show keeps being successful..

From what I remember having watched it as a kid it seems like The Master was a TimeLord that refused to accept his final regeneration... or maybe just a regeneration in general. I also seem to remember they've asked Doctor Who to basically become King of the TimeLords on multiple occassions and he's always like, "Nah. Busy. Thanks tho. Bye!"

Between these 2 things and the fact that it's Doctor Who and wouldn't be at all weird to just -ignore- the "x regenerations before you're gone" stipulation of previous incarnations I don't think they'd have to be all that creative with the writing.

It was only mentioned once, and in one episode. The Deadly Assassin iirc.

Davies didn't subscribe to it. No idea if Moffat does. Really up to the next showrunner. Then there's also the whole Valeyard thing....

Watched the Library two-parter while at work yesterday. That storyline was played so well with Kingston/Tennant. I feel like the emotion has left it with Smith. I wish we could hear more about their marriage etc.. hopefully they don't ruin that potentially huge storyline.

Touche' on the Georgia Moffet/David Tennant answer, but thats a non issue

As for Regenerations, as said above it was mentioned a few times, as in deadly assassin. I was under the impression that the Time Lords needed the master so they gave him a regeneration or two to keep him alive. From then on he stole regenerations from other time lords (possibly mentioned during John Sims incarnation, thought i heard it then). As for 13, that is the limit set by the time lords, but it can be changed. Usually #12 is the evil incarnation (Valyard). I believe RTD didnt explicitly adhere to that but he threw the limit out the window with some sort of Time Lord Logic or some shit. I heard something about the time lords giving the Master and Doctor (or all timelords) unlimited Regenerations sometimetime during the time war. i dont know if that is RTD/Moffat/Writing Team that said that or fanfic. i also recall something that might have have negated all timelords, something about the doctor saying that the time war was so horrible that timelord were commiting suicide just to use up thier regenerations ( i think something was said by the time lord council in The End Of Time)

just watched the first few minutes of End of Time pt2, Not sure if they are referencing regenerations or that time is looping infinitely causing infinite resurrections.
