Cast: Tom Cavanagh, Grant Gustin, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker, Jesse L. Martin, Candice Patton

Overview: After a particle accelerator causes a freak storm, CSI Investigator Barry Allen is struck by lightning and falls into a coma. Months later he awakens with the power of super speed, granting him the ability to move through Central City like an unseen guardian angel. Though initially excited by his newfound powers, Barry is shocked to discover he is not the only "meta-human" who was created in the wake of the accelerator explosion -- and not everyone is using their new powers for good. Barry partners with S.T.A.R. Labs and dedicates his life to protect the innocent. For now, only a few close friends and associates know that Barry is literally the fastest man alive, but it won't be long before the world learns what Barry Allen has become...The Flash.

The CW is considering bringing another DC hero to television and it is none other than The Flash.
The Arrow writers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg, along with DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, would write the pilot based on the character. It is rumored that the character could make an appearance in the upcoming season of Arrow before running off into his own series.
The CW is expected to talk more about the idea later today at their Television Critics Association panel.

i like the flash, even think the old tv show was good in its day, but his powers just get nutty a times.

i saw the show live on TV and while it was interesting, it wasnt nearly as interesting as Amanda Pays. goddamn, that girl was hotter than the sun. i think most of that was due to her Brit accent.

I could see this being really well done if it's got a similar look/feel as Arrow.

I imagine they would make ample use of "bullet time/slow-mo" in order to portray his speed. Since they're considering putting him in the same universe as Arrow, I doubt he'll have some of the crazy powers he's developed in the comic book. Most likely he'll just be super fast.

The CW Developing Arrow Spin-Off to Feature the Flash

http://www.tvguide.com/News/CW-Arrow...f-1068561.aspx

The CW is one step closer to bringing together the Justice League!

The network is developing Flash, a spin-off of Arrow which will feature speedy superhero Barry Allen. The character will be introduced in a backdoor pilot on Arrow during Season 2 before potentially spinning off into his own series.

Arrow: Kevin Alejandro, Michael Jai White join cast for Season 2

"We plan to introduce a recurring character and an origin story of Dr. Barry Allen, who you now know is the Flash," CW President Mark Pedowitz told reporters at the Television Critics Association fall TV previews on Tuesday. "We're planning an origin story, we'll see how it goes and hopefully it goes well. We do want to expand on the DC universe. We've got rich characters that we can use and we thought this was a very organic way to get there."

Arrow executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg will executive-produce the project alongside DC Entertainment's Geoff Johns. David Nutter, who helmed the Arrow pilot, has signed on to direct the backdoor pilot. Marc Guggenheim, also an executive producer on Arrow, will not be involved with Flash.

Similar to how Barry Allen ushered in the Silver Age of the DC superheroes, he'll also usher some new concepts into the Arrow world, including superpowers, which have so far been excluded from the series as the producers strived to keep everything grounded in reality. "When we first meet Barry Allen, he's just a forensic scientist working for Central City Police Department," Kreisberg told reporters. "He's just an ordinary man when we meet him. As we always do on Arrow, we're trying to keep it grounded and realistic as possible. That is the way the audience will be introduced to Barry and get to know him before life gets a little bit faster."

Given that Arrow has kept its characters grounded in reality, it comes as a surprise that a character who possesses super-speed and superhuman reflexes would be introduced. "Our characters will react to the extraordinary changes to their world in hopefully a realistic way," Kreisberg said. "These 'powers' won't be treated as commonplace on the show. They will be extraordinary events, and our world and the characters in them will react accordingly."

"Despite the fact that he's got superpowers, I think there's something very relatable about Barry of all the big seven of the Justice League," he continued. "He got his powers by accident. He isn't a god, he wasn't seeking this out. It came to him. His reactions to that feel very human and grounded."

In comparison to Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), Barry is not a dark and tortured soul. "It'll be fun to see these two characters together because they both have distinctly different world views, while both caring very deeply about right and wrong," Kreisberg said.

"Barry's someone who's a cop, he follows the law and follows the rules, he's the last thing in the world you would ever think about as being a vigilante," Johns said, and Kreisberg noted that Barry will have an impact on Oliver's life as he embarks on his new mission to become a hero rather than just a vigilante.

Arrow: 13 DC Comics characters we want to see and who should play them!

Barry will first appear in Episodes 8 and 9 of the second season before the potential backdoor pilot airs as Episode 20, all of which will be written by Berlanti, Johns and Kresiberg. The first two episodes will bring Barry to Starling City, while the latter will be a bigger introduction into the world of Flash.

With Flash, the network has now assembled two of the main seven members of the Justice League, including Green Arrow from the flagship series. Last year, the network developed a Wonder Woman origin series, which would've been called Amazon, but the project is currently on hold. The CW was also the home to Clark Kent's Superman, though Smallville and Arrow do not hail from the same universe since the Green Arrow was played by Justin Hartley on the former series.

Flash would be the third spin-off for the network. The Vampire Diaries is launching the new series The Originals this season, while a backdoor pilot is being developed to spin off the long-running Supernatural.

Arrow returns Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 8/7c on The CW. Who do you think should play the Flash?

The CW's The Flash Will Now Receive Traditional Pilot

When originally announced, The CW's upcoming TV series based on The Flash would begin as a 'backdoor pilot' on their hit series Arrow, where actor Grant Gustin would appear as Barry Allen before spinning off into his own TV series. Now those plans have changed. Deadline is reporting that the Scarlet Speedster will receive a traditional pilot instead of having an entire episode of Arrow dedicated to his origins. This decision comes after early cuts of his first two episodes, 8 and 9 in Arrow's new season, were well received by the CW brass.

Arrow co-creators Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg along with Geoff Johns will still write the pilot episode with Arrow pilot director David Nutter at the helm. It's not known when the series will air, but a mid-season debut has been rumored should the series be picked up.

Hmm this has to be a good sign if they are willing to go forward with a full pilot. What does this mean for the overall Arrow storyline though? Will they still incorporate Barry Allen into the later part of the season along with whatever comes about as a result of that S.T.A.R. accident?

This has a lot of potential. People worried about Flash's ridiculous overpoweredness shouldn't, that shit is way down the line. And clearly they'll go with a toned down street level version like Arrow. I wouldn't expect Speed Force flash with no regard for physics or reality, like this.

I also liked the old version for the few episodes I watched when it was new. Now they should be able to do the speed effect without too much trouble. No Ordinary Family handled that effect pretty well with the wife. That was a big budget network show, but it was also a few years ago now and they had to spend money on all the other powers in every episode.

I've got high hopes. Or as high as they can be for a CW show anyways. Though I am surprised they're going with the low budget show on this character when he could be amazing for a full on movie. I think they're pretty gunshy about going all in on anyone not named Batman/Superman now after Green Lantern was such shit.

Well we've had hospital shows, police procedural and lawyer shows fairly consistently for the past 60 years. Personally I could do without ever seeing another medical drama with asshole vs heart of gold characters ever again.

As long as these super hero shows don't suck, I'm perfectly happy to keep getting them. Agents of SHIELD is coming dangerously close to sucking, but that's hardly a super hero show so I'm not too concerned.

I'd be perfectly happy if DC can pull in the television world what Marvel has managed with films.

there has not been a superhero on that show yet. only people infected by toxins or ancient relics who gained super powers and became villains.

CW did indeed pick up The Flash for this coming Fall. This isn't much of a surprise, but worth noting.

The crossover potential is great - much like buffy/angel and VD/Originals - I hope it can be as awesome as Arrow is solo.

I can see the two of them playing off each other quite nicely. CW has their upfronts tomorrow, but is there any chance they don't do a Arrow/Flash Wednesday combo? That could be a damn solid block of TV
