I use Costco readers, leave a bunch around the house and car. I'm guessing I could get by without wearing glasses with it, but noticed you are only meant to use one lens at a time

Yes you can watch 2d movies in VR, it's great if you want a big screen with isolation. For the Metaquest there are plenty of free apps that will let you play media via network or otg. I sometimes will watch movies from my plex server over a browser (even 3d movies). 2D games are a bit trickier...
