    What If...?

Man, I love me some well-done wizard shit. Yeah, best episode so far. Nice touch that Strange is the only one so far able to perceive the Watcher narrating things.

    What are you playing?

Finally caved and bought and beat Miles Morales on the PS4. The plan had been to wait and grab the game on PS5 when I got my hands on one, but god only knows when that's actually happening. Good-ass game, even if it's on the short side. Currently doing a second playthrough of Horizon: Zero...

    What If...?

After three episodes, it seems like they're going for an upward trajectory in just how wacky the each successive scenario goes. Assuming they continue on that path, it's gonna be interesting to see just how out there the final episode will be.

    Wheel of Time

Wait, aren't the Aiel, in spite of being desert people, supposed to all be gingers? I thought that was a thing.

    What If...?

My only real critique of the first episode was that for being a 'what if' scenario, not much really changed, so it's good to see that other episodes are in fact going to get more out there.

    What did you just read?

After picking up some old books recently from my mom, I've started doing a second read of The Belgariad by David Eddings. I've finished the first couple books so far, and there's something about these books that makes them just so, I don't know, 'comfortable' to read. They--apparently quite...

    What If...?

Played it a bit safe in how little things actually changed, but hopefully they'll get a bit wackier on that front as the season goes on. Even with that critique, it was an entertaining episode, and yeah, the animation style was great.

    Sonic the Hedgehog (2019)

Not a casting announcement I was expecting to see, but sure, fuck it, I can work with that. If they're getting fucking Elba for him, I'm guessing they're planning to make Knuckles less of a dumbass than he tends to be in a lot of the more modern games.

    The Green Knight (2020)

It's exceedingly artsy, which isn't really my scene, but I didn't hate it. Do wish they would've given it a more definitive ending, though.

    The Suicide Squad (2021)

Highbrow entertainment this wasn't, even by the standards of comic movies, but fuck it, I had fun. How is it that King Shark has absolutely no consistency in his characterization between one comic/show/movie/game and the next, and yet he always manages to be the best? Boggles the mind, but I'm...

    WandaVision

So far all the D+ shows are direct continuations off of Endgame, but they're standalone with regards to each other. No need to watch one show to be able to follow what's happening in another.

    Guild Wars 2

Wasn't any major feature that had the 'wow' factor for me--have to admit, I don't get how fishing has the level of appeal to serve as a back-of-the-box level feature. But still, I'm very much down for some new content.

    Guild Wars 2

Reminder for anyone interested that they're going to be doing the big expansion unveil tomorrow at 9 am Pacific.

    What did you just read?

The Crusades by Thomas Asbridge. A history on the Crusades--shocking, I know. This is the second book I've read by Asbridge (the first being the book The Greatest Knight, which I believe I've posted about here), and in addition to simply writing good history, he has a real skill for turning...

It's from the first game. I believe that set is one of the armors you can get in the DLC.

    Loki

I don't think it's necessarily that there are multiple TVAs existing simultaneously, akin to multiple timelines (strap in, I'm going to do time travel mechanics; shit's going to get stupid). The TVA and Kang's hideout exist outside linear time, making the causality of Kang creating the TVA all...

    Black Widow (2020)

Not top tier MCU, but I enjoyed it. The sister was great, and if the plan is to do a passing of the mantle with her (and it almost certainly is), then I'm very much on board. Also becoming very clear that the Thunderbolts (or something similar) is being built up to.

    Clarkson's Farm

Not as actively funny as Grand Tour, but yeah, watching Clarkson bumblefuck his way through learning how to run a farm was good TV. Also surprisingly informative.

    Playstation 5

Got close to getting one off Best Buy last week. Actually got the thing in the cart, but of course it seems that not a single store in the goddamn state was actually carrying it, so that was that. Christ, they need to get these fucking things sitting on shelves.

    What did you just read?

Decided it was time to start doing a second read-through of Malazan, and just finished Gardens of the Moon. A second read is an amazingly different experience--coming at the story from a position of having some knowledge, and actually understanding the context in the moment when things happen...

    Total War: Warhammer

I was expecting bulls and/or maneaters, but mournfangs were a big surprise. Preorder race is looking pretty likely, but they could also end up being similar to the Brets at WH1 launch, where they existed as a placeholder with a stripped-down roster until the full race is released. Either way, I...

    Total War: Warhammer

The full version of the Silence and the Fury trailer (with a release date of July 14). Troglodons and Coatls for the lizards, Ghorgons and Jabberslythes for the goats. Surprisingly enough, the free LL that's launching alongside the DLC is a dwarf, and the dwarfs are getting a smaller revamp...

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)

So that trailer did just end with Wong fighting Abomination in a cage match, right? Of the places where the Hulk extended universe could reemerge, I wasn't expecting it here. Movie continues to look surprisingly good; looking forward to it.

    Control

Without giving away the particulars, AWE is pretty clearly serving as the lead-in to the next game, so from a story perspective it's worth playing for that, I think.

    Control

Don't know if the freebie version on Epic includes the DLC (or if you've otherwise picked them up), but if so, I'd personally recommend holding off on them until the post-game, and probably do the Foundation DLC before AWE. I believe both of them become available earlier, but I'd say it flows...

Likewise, Kena Bridge of Spirits continues to...

    Starfield - Fallout fallout that isn't ES6

According to their twitter, the game's going to be the first one to run on 'Creation Engine 2', which at least sounds like it's going to be a new engine. We'll see, I guess.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy GOTG from Square Enix

I'm cautiously optimistic now that it's been confirmed as a dedicated single-player title; I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it. They do need to get their shit optimized before they launch, however.
