Looked at my old account on the soe account page. I haven't played EQ since that summer they gave out those 3 free months. My account has been upgraded to gold status as well, with Expiration Date: (10/15/13).

This is pretty much my hope. I stopped caring about pretty colors long ago. I'm willing to overlook a lot of things if the gameplay is top notch. Graphics, CS, maybe even short term shitty servers.... as long as it delivers in the enjoyment factor.

I was in a similar situation as yourself recently and thought it'd be a nice diversion to play this for a bit. Bought the latest expansions and paid for a gold subscription. All I can say is don't waste your time or money on this friend. It's beyond horrible in its current state.
