    The Expanse

Earthers and Martians are flawed humans all over the spectrum of characteristics. I may not empathize with them but they are believable and relatable. Belters just seem to be personified victimhood and retribution. Or maybe even veiled plot devices. Miller and Johnson were the most...

    The Expanse

This show handled the 3 episode mini dump much better than The Boys. I'd still prefer to get it all at once... I do agree that it's hard to empathize with the Belters. Maybe that's not the intent of show(books?).

    The Mandalorian

I would take MCU-level writing in this series. It still has its warts, but I think is on average better. In some episodes, storm troopers are treated as a threat to the heroes. Bo-Katan called him brave for charging down the hall with the grenades. Billy Freckles and Mando go out the window...

    The Mandalorian

7-9 are bad movies regardless of their faithlessness to the Star Wars feel and iconic characters. The Mandalorian does a much better job of recreating that feel and respecting(or, at least not trashing) established characters, that's what has people excited. Perhaps a bit too excited as...

    Path of Exile

Did they though? In my anecdotal interactions with other players, I'm not really able to establish a pattern as to who loved Heist. Even people here, who are generally some degree of spergy, there was a mix of people that hated it and some that liked it. The only pattern I can establish is...

IT/Software career thread: Invert binary trees for dollars.

Saying your build machines need full internet access should get you fired. It's a pain in the ass, but hosting local various package platforms and such while locking down even internal access to your build machines is worth the short term hardship. I'm a QA manager, but I consider a lot of...

    Path of Exile

Some interesting posts from Bex: I'm playing in the Flashback event because I wanted to try out Wintertide Brand(it's decent with Holy Conquest, aids without). I'm ignoring Heist. They cannot make it rewarding enough for me to want to relevel, regear, and requestline all of that content...

IT/Software career thread: Invert binary trees for dollars.

I was reading up on this and Solarwinds said they would revoke the certificate(s) tomorrow(12/21). Perhaps I don't understand the complexity of revoking a certificate in this context. Why wasn't this done immediately?

Did you play mayhem? Just missed your chance to do that.

"Abyss cracks travel up to 35% farther and spawn 35% more monsters." Something silly like that.

    The Mandalorian

Maybe I haven't seen a good adventure serial lately. What's one you feel is comparable? Do you feel the heroic adventure is compromised when stakes aren't clear? When is mando actually in trouble if he blocks lightsabers and stormtroopers only aim for his armor? I'm certainly not looking for...

    Path of Exile

I'm hoping the new core supporter packs mean the next year of leagues is them polishing up old content.
  13. Deathwing

    Path of Exile

What's the interesting part of core Heist?
  14. Deathwing

    Path of Exile

A low number of high impact changes, right? On one hand, Heist got annoying pretty fast. But I was also sick of Delirium and now it's nice every now and then. But just the 10% mirror in maps. On the other hand, boneheaded economic decisions on their part further soured both leagues. Aura...

    Diablo 4 / IV / IIII / Fore / Cope / Seethe

I'll agree with this point while still ranking it relatively low on the list of problems PoE needs to fix. That said, the point was that D3's adventure/rift leveling was superior to PoE's leveling. So, no power leveling despite it being admittedly much more common and easier in D3. Unless...

    Diablo 4 / IV / IIII / Fore / Cope / Seethe

Sure it does. Level 95 for most people, level 100 for everyone. If you're going to quibble over 5 passive points, they are far less meaningful than truly endless paragon levels in D3. Is it that certain abilities and gear are restricted by level? By level 70, you can equip almost everything...
  17. Deathwing

    Diablo 4 / IV / IIII / Fore / Cope / Seethe

Seems arbitrary. Endless paragon levels ensue after that. If that's your definition to the end of leveling, both(all ARPGS?) games have a point you can easily label as the end of leveling.
  18. Deathwing

    Diablo 4 / IV / IIII / Fore / Cope / Seethe

Oh, more ARPG players complaining about repetition.

    Diablo 4 / IV / IIII / Fore / Cope / Seethe

    I don't get it.

    Diablo 4 / IV / IIII / Fore / Cope / Seethe

What is superior about leveling in D3?

    The Mandalorian

The CW comment was more to pick a "brand" known for shitty writing, not a direct comparison of similar show types.
  22. Deathwing

    The Mandalorian

Admitting your own unforced fuckups and simply erasing them is not stunning. EDIT: let me clarify. Without context, that's the bare minimum that should be expected. It won't happen, so I guess you can say it's stunning. I was more lamenting that much more should be expected of them.
  23. Deathwing

    Path of Exile

They don't. You leech from life leech supporting frostbolt or global cold leech and the initial hits on vortex and creeping frost. You don't run cold snap in a spellslinger setup. Spellslinger will disable cold snap's builtin cooldown bypass. You can manually cast by sharing a 6L with...

    Path of Exile

The Lich King is pleased with your choice of theme. You should do cold BV pathfinder instead though.
  25. Deathwing

    Path of Exile

6L vortex is most of your damage. Frostbolt is for propagating vortexes(vortices?), curses, and does decent enough damage to kill white mobs. You can support it with some utility too like onslaugh, proj speed, or life leech. Creeping frost is for a bit of extra damage and bonechill. You can...
  26. Deathwing

    Path of Exile

My main annoyance with the slinger version is getting vortex on single targets. With how it's typically played(Vortex on LMB), you either have to fight that muscle memory and cast it without a frostbolt which means melee range, or try to time it with frostbolt.
  27. Deathwing

    Path of Exile

Good builds based on pops will scale both at the same time. Cold BV + explodey chest for example. You only scale cold, phys, area, cold gained as phys, aura effectiveness, etc. Spellslinger is almost always ease of use. In this case, it lets you cast frostbolt and creeping frost(seen some...

    The Mandalorian

Why would anyone answer that in good faith when you continue to use ad hominems?
  33. Deathwing

    Path of Exile

Those seem like two incomparable playstyles. I've been having fun with worb in delve. I kinda want to make it work as a league starter. Might be Occultist only since I don't know of another way to easily get pops.

    World of Warcraft: Current Year

Overplayed. You could have kept that going a bit longer.

Hits 3 of the T1 decks. The remainders have their own counters. I'm not saying you're wrong, but what did you want in addition to this?
  36. Deathwing

    The Mandalorian

That's whataboutism. If I implied comparison to the originals, my apologies, that was not my intent. I think the writing in this series is horrid by itself, it needs no comparison to other works. I'm not expecting Shakespeare. I'm expecting rational and relatable characters. Frog mother...

    The Mandalorian

Thanks for responding! I'm definitely open to calling the writing lazy instead of sloppy. What would be an example of sloppy writing in your mind? Frog lady episode was borderline horrifying. If it was a species in which humans are empathetic and an analogous stage of development, baby yoda...

    The Mandalorian

What points of criticism are worth responding to then? This is just an ad hominem.

    The Mandalorian

Do we know what material he was given? If Bill was given free reign to adlib, especially against some uncomedic or just downright bad actors(Carano), then he did a great job. @grumblethorn Yes, I'm not a writer, never claimed to be. You didn't tag @Screamfeeder . So your response is useless...

    The Mandalorian

@Jozu By itself, I don't think monster of the week is bad. I think it's often used as a crutch by writers that cannot develop overarcing plot elements and strong characters to carry one offs. X-files did monster of the week well, to the point where some fans preferred them to the plots main...
