In it's current state that's probably accurate. All of the best guilds originally were EQ guilds though.

I wasnt either so can't comment to specifics, but having been in similar situations in the past, mythic is a huge leap in basically every requirement - performance, roster, gear, commitment. Ive seen some of the absolute best heroic raiders fail miserably making the leap to mythic.

You can get banned for anything they want to ban you for. The "rules" have almost never applied on either side of the table. I'd almost guarantee though this new "rule" is only being enforced on specific people, not everyone.

I'm willing to bet it's the exact opposite. Full box groups are a net loss for them. Ask any of these guys on here when the last time they paid for a sub (or a krono) with cash was? Legit paying customers do quit over boxers too. The last (and what I conisder the main) aspect of this is that...

IT/Software career thread: Invert binary trees for dollars.

The real trick to learning programming is to have a project that you want to build and that solves a problem for you. The first application I ever developed was a windows application that allowed people to move files on their local drive to a file share that was backed up to tape. All of the...

If you're interested research the differences between java and javascript. The screenshot you posted was running over port 8383 which is netbeans built in server and that added to the confusion as well hehe. The fact that you are using javascript makes it easier for sure. You can run this on...

Netbeans is running it's own little web server. You'll need to deploy that to a tomcat (or other servlet container) container before it will work on a server. Most shared hosting providers only give you php/perl/python so if you want java or .net you're paying extra. You'll probably pay less for...

Tons of people run servers from home. I just wouldn't run one from home that I allowed a lot of people to connect to. If you just need good quality web hosting or a VPS check out dreamhost. If you want to be able scale a little better, I'd just jump straight to AWS. Are you going to need a...

I prefer TreeSize Free - Quickly Scan Directory Sizes and Find Space Hogs this app for searching out large files. You can also just use windows explorer and type in size: into the search bar and it will pop up several options. I usually start at Gigantic and see if that turns up enough stuff I...

Marriage and the Power of Divorce

I don't have the lazy wife problem so I guess I can't really comment on that. My house stays clean and all the bullshit errands I would have to squeeze in time for after work or on the weekend generally get done so I pretty much just get to do Cad things on the weekends with my family. I mean...

Marriage and the Power of Divorce

My wife quit working when my oldest was two (so about 5 years ago) and overall it's been a big positive for us and our kids. The only thing she really complains about somewhat regularly is the lack of adult conversation and I guess "tasks" for lack of a better word that she would get at work but...

Marriage and the Power of Divorce

I thought your post was humorous because you basically did the funnest/easiest part of being a parent for a few hours and then made the sweeping generalization that being a stay at home parent is "a blast!!!" The first world nanny problems also contributed to the humor.

Well a bad employee is a bad employee whether they work from home or not. But like I said, I really think you (as an organization) have to be all in on working from home and not giving a fuck if you're going to do it. Judging people on their work from home reasons is just uncomfortable for...

Frequency makes a difference too. I was definitely less productive on my wfh day when I worked from home once a week. When I did 100% from home for a couple of months I'd say my productivity went way up.

I think working from home is perfect for shit like not wanting to shovel a driveway or deal with driving in snow or whatever. You can't really treat a modern workplace like some sort of assembly line where if Joe doesn't show up to label the jars or whatever then it messes everyone up. If some...

Thinking about this reminds me of when I had just got my first (what I felt) "real" job. Blocking website for reasons other than they are illegal or a network security risk is asinine. Set goals and expectations and either let people meet them or not meet them. I like watching some of the old school speed runners. I mostly like smaller streamers who's chat you can actually follow. I also got into the GTA role playing streams for awhile. Some of them were pretty hilarious but since it's all improv it's very inconsistent.

What does your ideal modern MMO be like?

I don't have any strong opinions on gameplay or mechanics or any of that. Just needs to be fun. Somewhere between WoW and EQ (probably closer to EQ) for combat would be fine. I'd prefer it be more about timing and spell selection than filling every possible second with a cooldown. As divided as...
